It was seen that majority <strong>of</strong> these children belonged to Bahun (18%), Chhetri (18%),<br />

Newar (12%) and Tamang (14%). There were children who belonged to the Magar,<br />

Gurung, BK and Pariyar ethnic groups.<br />

62% <strong>of</strong> the children said that their place <strong>of</strong> orig<strong>in</strong> was outside the city and they had<br />

migrated either with the family or alone.<br />

Most <strong>of</strong> the children had parents who were still alive. Only 17% responded say<strong>in</strong>g that<br />

their father is not liv<strong>in</strong>g and 18% said that their mother is not liv<strong>in</strong>g. However, most <strong>of</strong><br />

the children had parents liv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the village and not liv<strong>in</strong>g together with them <strong>in</strong> the city.<br />
