Norine Vesey Spurling ’51 was in a
group exhibit at Oxford Gallery in Rochester,
NY, from March through May 2008. Other
exhibitions where she has had work include:
The Artist Among Us at Burchfield-Penney
Art Center, Buffalo, NY, December 2007
through March 2008 and the 16th Annual
National Exhibition 2008 of the Western
Colorado Watercolor Society, spring 2008.
Elizabeth Ayars Nesbitt ’52 won an
honorable mention award for her watercolor
Rest Stop at the Packwood House Museum
Exhibit in Lewisburg, PA.
Margo Allman ’55 exhibited paintings,
drawing and sculpture in Staying the Course, a
two-woman show at the Center for the Arts
Gallery at Towson University in Towson,
MD. The show is a “tribute to women who
‘stayed the course’ as artists: their commitment
to being artists, to making excellent
work, and to exhibiting professionally at a
time that the art world did not make room
for women artists.”
Sheila Letven ’56 In May, Letwen
exhibited recent photographs at the Artists’
Gallery in Lambertville, NJ.
Elizabeth Ayars Nesbitt ’52, Rest Stop
Rosemarie Echelmeier ’61exhibited
the sculpture, Turkana Woman, in Marin Arts
Council’s Open Studio Gallery. She received
second place for a bronze, Woman on the Rock,
and a merit award for a bust of Lily in the
Marin Society of Artists Sculpture Show. She
also designs and sells ornate jeweled and
beaded metal head circlets under the name
“Spirit of the Goddess.”
Susan McBriarty Swinand ’65
exhibited in Transformations: Paintings and
Works on Paper by Susan Swinand, AWS at
the Helen Bumpus Gallery of the Duxbury
Free Library, Duxbury, MA, May through
June 2008.
Jane Zimmerman Walentas ’66 and
her carousel were featured on the CBS Sunday
Morning Show with Charles Osgood on July
13, 2008. (See her carousel horses below.)
