Lacy was welcomed into the Hinners’ home from among a litter of puppies at a friend’s house in Colorado. The Hinners are teaching their dogs to pay it forward, as it were. Lacy attends weekly courses to learn how to become a therapy dog, certified by the Delta Society, an organization that matches animals with children with special needs. “Sammy is next on the list,” Hinners says.
