Get your plumbing career in the pipeline<br />
Plumbing is an essential service – and one that needs<br />
skilled tradespeople. If you’re working towards becoming<br />
an apprentice or trainee in the plumbing industry then<br />
improve your chances with the Certificate in Plumbing<br />
and Gasfitting.<br />
You’ll learn mostly about residential plumbing, including<br />
hot and cold water supply systems, sanitary systems and<br />
also gain skills and knowledge in all aspects <strong>of</strong> gasfitting<br />
systems, drainlaying and ro<strong>of</strong>ing. Health and safety and<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essional development are also covered.<br />
On graduating you’ll be able to further your study<br />
with national qualifications at Level 4 or start your<br />
apprenticeship.<br />

• Sheetmetal Work and Ro<strong>of</strong> Plumbing<br />
• Welding and Brazing<br />
• Gas and Combustion Theory and Practice (Including<br />
Heating and Ventilating)<br />
• Gas Pipes, Appliances and Devices<br />
• Building Construction and Service Integration<br />
• Sanitary (Foul Water) Systems<br />
• Cold Water Supply Systems (Potable).<br />
Career Opportunities<br />
Apprenticeship in plumbing, gasfitting, drainlaying or<br />
ro<strong>of</strong>ing, traineeships within the network reticulation<br />
sectors including water, gas and wastewater services.<br />
Entry Requirements<br />
Applicants must meet the following entry requirements:<br />
• Be physically capable <strong>of</strong> completing the practical<br />
aspects <strong>of</strong> the programme and<br />
• Have English language competence to undertake this<br />
programme, which is taught and assessed in English.<br />
Any applicant whose first language is not English<br />
may be asked to provide evidence <strong>of</strong> an overall IELTS<br />
(Academic) band score <strong>of</strong> 5.5 (with no score below 5.0)<br />
or equivalent.<br />
Applicants will be accepted in order <strong>of</strong> application.<br />
Students who have attained the age <strong>of</strong> 20 years and do not<br />
hold the minimum entry requirements for a programme will<br />
be eligible to be enrolled as a student where their previous<br />
educational, work or life experience indicates they have a<br />
reasonable likelihood <strong>of</strong> success. Students who have not<br />
attained the age <strong>of</strong> 20 years and do not hold the required<br />
minimum entry requirements for a programme may also<br />
be eligible to enrol in exceptional circumstances. Such<br />
decisions will be made by the Faculty Dean.<br />
