After learning about the role of the Archbishop, the P4 pupils were inspired to create their own mitres. And when placed on their heads, they transformed the classroom into a sea of bright craftwork. Class teacher Catriona Ward said: “The children really enjoyed learning about our new Archbishop and displaying their own colourful message of congratulations and good wishes. “We hope their work catches his eye and that he might pay a visit to the school in the near future.” Meanwhile, Archbishop Tartaglia has highlighted the important role that schools play in the faith formation of children and young people. Recalling his own primary schooldays at St Thomas’, Riddrie, from 1956-63, he rhymed off his teachers: “There was Miss Cairns, Mrs Cairns and another Mrs Cairns, as well as a Miss Cairney who became a Mrs Hill.
