Principles of Software Testing
This course introduces you to the field of software
testing through discussion of the tester’s role in the
product cycle and hands-on labs that give you an
opportunity to develop software testing skills. This
course covers how testers find and break down software
problems, identify bugs, determine types of
bugs, report bugs, and perform regression testing.
This hands-on class gives you an opportunity to understand
the tasks testers execute and then try them
yourself. Prerequisite: Proficiency with Windows file

Professional Testing Methods
This course explores test case development for the
two most fundamental types of software testing:
black box and white box. Learn the techniques involved
in both as you practice writing and applying
test cases, developing scripts, and using a wide variety
of techniques to find bugs in software systems.
Learn how access to the source code influences the
types of actions performed in the testing environment.
Course topics: testing type, code coverage,
error checking, and transition modeling. Prerequisites:

Test Planning, Modeling
and Reporting
Take a structured approach to test case development
as you plan recurring test activities and examine the
product fundamentals necessary for decision making.
Recognize tester’s contribution to the product
team and their role in an agile environment. Students
will develop advanced skills in test planning,
prioritization and modeling. As part of the curriculum,
students will gain new skills and insight into
test effectiveness, the measurement of test progress
and identification of risks associated with complex
software development projects. Topics: test plan
writing, test verification and validation, project metrics,
user acceptance, testing to spec and common
enterprise environments. Prerequisites: Principles of

Software Test Engineer
Certificate Capstone
The STE Capstone project challenges students to
demonstrate the skills and concepts acquired from
the previous classes required for the STE Certificate.
Students will draw from concepts covered in the
earlier Test Methodology, Programming, and Database
classes. For this project, students will design
and execute multiple test passes against a small
e-commerce application, then report test findings.
Students will have opportunity to build the test
environment and write custom testware to support
test execution. Prerequisite: Successful completion
of all required classes. Registration is by permission
