<strong>Kirdford</strong> NDP<br />
Objective 2: improve conditions for local businesses to be successful<br />
2.1 Lobby and support County and District authorities to seek delivery of high-speed Broadband<br />
in the Parish as an item in the Action <strong>Plan</strong>.<br />
2.2 Promote and support local farming and forestry enterprises in order to establish cooperatives<br />
to provide shared marketing and plant resources as part of the Action <strong>Plan</strong>.<br />
2.3 Provide a policy in the <strong>Plan</strong> to encourage establishment of Bed and Breakfast<br />
accommodation in the Parish. Include an Action <strong>Plan</strong> item for the promotion of local food and<br />
beverage, attractions such as scenic footpaths, golf in West Sussex, fishing and other<br />
countryside pursuits and base to visit the SDNP.<br />
2.4 Promote and support local arts and crafts shows and include the establishment of a Weald<br />
Arts and Crafts group as an item in the Action <strong>Plan</strong>.<br />
2.5 Provide a policy in the <strong>Plan</strong> to encourage the development of a Community Office Hub and a<br />
nursery workshops complex.<br />
2.6 Promote and support the development of community-based transport organisations as an<br />
item in the Action <strong>Plan</strong>.<br />
Issue: <strong>Development</strong>, Facilities and <strong>Plan</strong>ning<br />
In preparing this <strong>Plan</strong>, and in consideration of the long-term sustainability of the community,<br />
residents have identified land within the village area considered suitable for development. The<br />
kind of developments envisaged, comprise of housing, office, industrial nursery units, along<br />
with provision for future community facilities.<br />
The community survey results identified a need for provision of the following in the next 10<br />
years, in order to meet future social and demographic requirements:<br />
• Housing – up to 25 units in the village, including provision for a 10% growth in the<br />
elderly population<br />
• Serviced offices<br />
• Light industrial nursery units<br />
• Small storage units for local business<br />
• Youth Centre and Wellbeing clinic<br />
• Education<br />
• Allotments<br />
Residents also undertook a number of walkabouts to identify land suitable for development.<br />
