As shown on the proposals map, it is proposed to address the lack of places for children and
young people to play and socialise in Kirdford, and to reinforce the pivotal recreational
importance of the village green by:
i. Providing a new play area on Butts Common. New and unique play equipment using
local materials will be crafted and erected on the Common.

Constructing a new SUDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage Scheme) pond with picnic area
and seating. This will help alleviate existing drainage issues and add nature
conservation interest/value.
Providing new parking facilities off Butts Common for mothers and toddlers and
disabled people, to enhance accessibility to this central community area.
Extending the seating area outside the pub into the Common, overlooking the play
area. This will provide better connectivity to the green, and offer a sense of security to
the play area and the Common as a whole.
Proposal 5(B): Play Area off School Court
As shown on the proposals map it is proposed to address the lack of places where children and
young people can play and socialise in Kirdford by:
v. Retro fitting the existing play area accessed off School Court. New and unique play
equipment using local materials will be crafted and erected on the green.

Providing new parking spaces for mothers and children to enhance accessibility to this
important community space.
