This tax is levied at the rate <strong>of</strong> 5% on the admission price paid by patrons <strong>of</strong> all manner and forms <strong>of</strong> amusement.<br />

The Amusement Tax revenue estimate is based upon the top 12 payers <strong>of</strong> the tax within the <strong>City</strong> since these sources represent<br />

approximately 85% <strong>of</strong> the amusement tax revenue. Historical trends were used to estimate future revenues from each <strong>of</strong> these payers<br />

and for the remaining payers. In 2006, the tax rate was reduced to 2.5% for qualified non-pr<strong>of</strong>it performing arts groups. In 2007 the tax<br />

rate was further reduced to 1.25% and in <strong>2008</strong> the tax is eliminated for qualified events produced by non-pr<strong>of</strong>it performing arts groups.
