Under the fsh culture programmes, pen culture of rnilkfish Chnnos chnnnr at Muttukadu gave enwumgingresults. Over a priod of 6 months, at a stocking density of 5000 no./ha and with supplementary feeds, the fishes reached an averagc size of 2% d l 9 5 g from an initial average size of 120 d l 3 g. The growth of pearlspol Etrr~plus stirafensu under integrated farming with poultry at Narakhl was also encouraging, recording an averagc growth of 170 mm/liN g from an initial average of 77 mmUO g. Significant advances have ken made in the feed formulation progammcs, with further improvements in the dcvclopmcnt of freeze-dried micro-particulate diets (50, 1iX) and 500 microns) for shrimp 1arv;lc and postlarvac. The milk protein catstin was replaced by an equivalent amount of duck ej@ and total lipid w~ increased with the addition of fish oil.
