Energy efficiency standards result
in buildings that are more valuable,
healthier in which to live and work, and
more efficient.
Renewable energy developer David
Brown Kinloch, stresses the need for a
strong renewable energy standard in
the ACES bill to make a difference in
Kentucky “where coal is king”. He explains
that Kentucky has other energy
resources: wind, solar, water, biomass,
and landfill gas which have not been
used by utility companies. Renewable
energy requirements in the bill could
mandate utilities buy a certain percentage
of their energy from renewable
sources which would finally “force them
to use some of KY’s other resources
than coal… a very, very good thing for
plish before the summer recess. Big
energy companies have watered down
the renewable energy standards and
virtually eliminated EPA’s ability to clean
up the real polluters like coal plants
amendments to strengthen these
provisions.
The bill goes next to the Senate—likely
in August. Our Senators need to hear
your thoughts—how the Clean Energy
bill can make a difference for your
business, our local economy, and our
world. Please call and tell them you and
many other Kentuckians support strong
clean energy standards and a bill that
penalizes the polluters!! They need to
HEAR LOUDLY those Kentucky voter
voices demanding something other
than ‘clean coal’.
