Slow Food is a non-profit, eco-gastronomic member-supported organization founded in 1989 to counteract
fast food and fast life, the disappearance of local food traditions and people’s dwindling interest in the
food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes and how our food choices affect the rest of the world.
Slow Food Bluegrass is the largest Kentucky chapter of Slow Food USA. We hold food tasting events,
Slow arts and crafts and film festivals, concerts and cooking classes throughout the year, in hopes
of bringing people together to celebrate and discover our local food abundance. In addition, we
have several projects, such as heritage livestock preservation, Slow food in school, and community
