Eunice Thessin informs Boxoffice: "We reviewed
and discussed any additional duties
for each chairman. Our goals are to keep
ourselves more informed . . . also see and
publicize the good in movies and TV."
About 50 council members, upon invitation
from Warner Bros., showed up for a
special unreeling of "Girl Friends" at the
Centre screening room August 31. The
council also was invited to a prescreening
at the same facility September 18 to see
an International Picture Show offering,
"Billion Dollar Hobo" with Tim Conway
and Will Geer. It opened September 29 at
Mill Road, Capitol Court and Westlane.
First regular meeting of the council's
1978-79 season is Monday (2) at the Wauwatosa
Civic Center. Wade Mosby, Journal
Green Sheet editor and entertainment critic,
is
the featured speaker.
Standard Theatres of Waukesha, having
opened its new Green Bay Triplex in Green
Bay August 18, now has under construction
another house in Beloit. It will be called
the Prairie Triple.x and located in what
is
president Russ Mortenson of Standard describes
as "a new dynamic area in Beloit."
The theatre can be enlarged some more if
conditions warrant this, Russ added.
A full-page ad in the local daily newspaper
September 8 announced the "first
public showing anywhere" of Sylvester Stallone's
"Paradise Alley." The presentation
was at the Point Triplex on the city's south
side.
"Death on the Nile" is slated to open
Friday (20) at Spring Mall, Southgate and
Northtown . a Horseman,"
starring James Caan and Jane Fonda, comes
to Northridge, Northtown and Fox Bay
visible.
Goodsell announced he was pleased with
the take. In 1973 his documentary "Always
a New Beginning" was nominated for an
