BOXOFFICE/SEPTEMBER 17, 1979
As gasoline pumps empty,
theatres are filling up.
Incentive pronrams can motivate theatre managers to do things thi> miyhl not normally do.
Once enthusiasm is instilled in the theatre manager, it's not uncommon to find all of a
theatre's employees beneficially affected.
While everyone is limited to traveling short distances via
their favorite mode of transportation — the automobile,
the short distance to your theatre can be a welcomed trip.
Of course the high volume of theatre goers wears thin a
theatre's interior and increased boxoffice sales does bring
increased attention to the way your theatre looks. At the
same time a theatre owners attention is drawn to
controlling a variety of things including the energy the
theatre is consuming, now this is where Soundfold comes
in by controlling energy consumption* while looking
terrific. So it's a good idea before the lights go down to
put the Soundfold up. But if you already have Soundfold on
your walls consider this. If you're even thinking about
remodeling we've got great news. The relatively low cost of
Soundfold is much lower the second time around. So when
you think of energy savings in a beautiful way you're
thinking of Soundfold.
MOTIVATION
(continued from pa|>e 1 7)
tions; it's important to understand manage
ment's reasoning for doing things the way
they do just to maintain the status quo.
Most theatre managers can readily see the
benefits of increased boxoffice and conces
sions sales. Too many of us are apt to forget
that, in today's economy, even maintaining
the status quo can be a difficult job. Ticket
prices are as high a $5 in some markets and
patrons are keenly aware of a reduction in
discretionary income.
WHAT THEATRE MANAGER hasn't
complained to himself about all the seemingly
unnecessary paperwork that has to be com
pleted for the home office
He may rightly wonder why the home
office needs to know how many drinking
straws are in inventory each month or why
the home office is so interested in knowing if
all of the parking lot lights are in working
order.
If u were explained that the drinking straw
count is a double check on drinking cups
inventory (which is a check on soft drink sales
and inventory I or that parking lot vandalism
complaints by patrons had increased in the
past few months, the task becomes more
meaningful.
ATTAINED GOALS should be
rewarded
by incentives and should be distributed on a
sliding scale.
Winning a contest can mean pride, honor,
prestige and the recognition by one's peers of
having a job well done. A little plaque or
statue on the desk may seem insignificant but
it
symbolizes success.
