national news ATS Euromaster takes the wraps off new van livery The UK’s largest comprehensive tyre specialist has launched a striking new livery for its mobile service fleet, designed to enhance safety, raise brand awareness and highlight the company’s wide ranging expertise. ATS Euromaster will apply the livery to all new light commercials joining its near 1,000-strong fleet - commencing with 60 replacement vehicles entering service during 2011. This is expected to comprise 30 Ford Transit Jumbo vans, 26 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans and four sprinter flatbeds. The new livery generously increases the prominence of each vehicle’s chevron safety markings, which grow by 259 per cent on the Transit Jumbo and 336 per cent on Sprinter vans. These complement the pairs of highintensity LED lights mounted to the front and within each light bar – and which have been standard fitment across ATS Euromaster’s mobile fitting fleet since 2004. Richard Byrne, Group Health, Safety & Environmental Manager, explains: “For us safety is far more than simply meeting the legal requirements; it’s how we do business and it’s what makes us stand out within the tyre industry. Our existing fleet already exceeds all current safety legislation, but as a business we took the decision to raise out protection levels even further.” Chris Hufflett, Group Operations Director, adds: “The new livery will play a key role in raising awareness of our breadth of expertise. We’re using high-impact graphics of car, 4x4, van, truck, industrial and agricultural tyres on the sides of each van. Plus we’ve developed icons to highlight the full range of fast-fit services we offer - including newly launched skills such as fault diagnostics and air-con recharging.” FTA and IRTE make common aims official A bilateral agreement was signed by the bosses of the <strong>Freight</strong> Transport Association and the Institution of Road Transport Engineers at the recent CV Show. The Memorandum of Understanding will see FTA and IRTE working together on the production and delivering of a joint workshop accreditation scheme. Under IRTE Workshop Accreditation, FTA engineers will audit workshops to give transport operators the ability to buy maintenance provision with confidence. Theo de Pencier, CEO of FTA, said: “This MoU is the culmination of a good deal of work between both organisations. With around 80 per cent of maintenance provision for LGVs outsourced, this is a logical step that will yield excellent results for the industry.” Nick Jones, Chief Executive of IRTE, said: “With so much at stake, companies need more than ever assurance that they are getting the standard of workshop service they expect. Our joint cooperation will afford buyers of maintenance provision with a degree of confidence that has been sorely lacking until now.” 14 News pages.indd 14 24/05/2011 12:04
