Dog River, Theodore Industrial Canal, Fowl<br />

River, the northwest arm of Heron Bay, Heron<br />

Bayou (off northwest arm of Heron Bay), Bayou<br />

Coden, Bayou La Batre, or their tributaries, in<br />

Mobile County, or Blakely River North of the<br />

charted position of Blakely River Marker 18,<br />

Magnolia River, Bon Secour River north of<br />

Channel Markers 7 and 8, Wolf Creek, Sandy<br />

Creek, Mifflin Creek, Hammock Creek, Roberts<br />

Bayou, Soldier Creek, Palmetto Creek, Old<br />

River (between Ono Island and Perdido Key), or<br />

their tributaries, in Baldwin County, or in any<br />

man-made canal [including but not limited to the<br />

following on Dauphin Island: Quivera Bay,<br />

Polaris Lagoon, Port Royal Lagoon, Lafitte Bay,<br />

Indian Bay, Indian Canal, Buchanan Bay,<br />

Columbia Bay, Colony Cove, Spanish Bay,<br />

Barcelona Bay, Confederate Bay, Salt Creek<br />

(Heron Bayou), Government Cut, and Billy Goat<br />

Hole].<br />

It shall be unlawful to set or place any<br />

recreational trap used for the taking of crabs or<br />

other seafood in any area named in the above<br />

paragraph of this regulation, unless such trap<br />

shall be physically attached by a line to a pier,<br />

dock, piling, bulkhead, boathouse, or other<br />

structure, on or attached to the shore. Such line<br />

shall allow the crab trap to be placed no farther<br />

than a distance of ten feet (10’) from the pier,<br />

dock, boathouse, or shoreline. No more than<br />

five (5) traps shall be allowed per property.<br />

Recreational crab traps shall be marked with an<br />

orange floating, visible buoy not less than six<br />

inches (6”) in diameter or width. The buoy shall<br />

have a legible letter “R” at least two inches (2”)<br />

high, permanently affixed to it.<br />

Crab traps which are no longer serviceable or in<br />

use shall be removed from the water by the<br />

owner thereof. No person shall intentionally<br />

damage or destroy crab traps or the floats or<br />

lines attached thereto.<br />

Any unidentified, improperly marked, or<br />

illegally placed crab trap shall be considered a<br />

nuisance and may be confiscated by a<br />

conservation enforcement officer or other<br />

authorized agent of the ADCNR.<br />

Any person, firm, or corporation taking,<br />

catching, selling, transporting, or possessing<br />

crabs shall have in their possession a valid<br />

license, if applicable, for such activity.<br />

Such license shall be immediately available for<br />

inspection, upon request, by a conservation<br />

enforcement officer or other authorized agent.<br />

FINFISH<br />

Saltwater Rod and Reel License<br />

Annual licenses expire August 31 each year.<br />

Required by any person who is 16 years of<br />

age or older, but has not yet reached the age<br />

of 65, who takes, catches, kills, possess or<br />

attempts to take catch, kill, or posses by the<br />

use of rod & reel, artificial bait, lure, fly,<br />

gig, cast net, bow, crab trap or spear.<br />

Resident - $21.20 - Annual<br />

7-day trip - $9.05<br />

Nonresident – 7 Day<br />

Florida - $30.00<br />

All other states - $26.20<br />

Nonresident – Annual<br />

Louisiana - $90.00<br />

Florida - $47.00<br />

All other states - $45.40<br />

Pier License<br />

Piers located in inside waters of the state -<br />

$1,001.00<br />

(Residents may fish without an additional<br />

license.)<br />

Saltwater Pier License (license for individual)<br />

Resident - $6.00<br />

Non-resident - $11.00<br />

(Valid only on public piers)<br />

Saltwater Angler Registration<br />

Any Alabama resident 16 years of age or older<br />

fishing in, attempting to fish in or possessing<br />

fish taken from those waters under the <strong>Marine</strong><br />

Resources Jurisdiction shall be required to<br />

register.<br />

It is included in an annual saltwater, 7 day trip<br />

and pier fishing license.<br />
