2. Transport License:<br />
a. if purchased in connection with a Wholesale/<br />
Retail Seafood Dealer’s license authorizes to<br />
deliver “fish”/seafood to and for a wholesale<br />
dealer.<br />
b. if purchased in connection with a Retail Seafood<br />
Dealer’s license only valid to pick up “fish”/<br />
seafood from a licensed wholesale/retail seafood<br />
dealer and transport product to the place of<br />
business of the retail seafood dealer<br />
c. if purchased in connection with a <strong>Commercial</strong><br />
Fisherman’s license, only valid to transport that<br />
commercial fisherman’s catch to a wholesale/<br />
retail seafood dealer to be sold for that commercial<br />
fisherman. Dealers are responsible for all<br />
activities which take place under authority of a<br />
transport license issued in the name of that<br />
dealer.<br />
3. Wholesale/Retail Seafood Dealers License: good<br />
for all activities of wholesale/retail seafood dealers.<br />
Vehicles commercially shipping seafood out of<br />
state must have a Wholesale/Retail Seafood Dealer’s<br />
license or a Transport License purchased in connection<br />
with a Wholesale/Retail Seafood Dealer’s license.<br />
<strong>Commercial</strong> Fishermen<br />
<strong>Commercial</strong> fishermen who sell their catch to anyone<br />
other than a Louisiana licensed wholesale/retail<br />
seafood dealer or transport their catch out-of-state are<br />
required to purchase and possess a Wholesale/Retail<br />
Seafood Dealer’s License and are required to comply<br />
with all regulations governing wholesale/retail seafood<br />
dealers.<br />
A validly licensed commercial fisherman may sell<br />
his catch to a consumer within the state if he is also the<br />
holder of a valid Fresh Products license.<br />
EXEMPTIONS<br />
Persons who produce and harvest catfish or crawfish<br />
in private ponds shall not be required to possess<br />
any license in order to sell their crawfish or catfish.<br />
Any person may purchase crawfish or catfish from<br />
persons who harvest crawfish or catfish in private<br />
ponds. A seafood Wholesale/Retail Dealer’s license is<br />
required to purchase products to be resold.<br />
Persons who harvest crawfish or catfish in private<br />
ponds shall not be required to possess any license to<br />
transport their own crawfish or catfish from the private<br />
pond to the first point of sale.<br />
