Family: Orchidaceae<br />

Nickname: Chinese Ground Orchid<br />

Bulb Companions: Camassia; Dutch iris; Triteleia<br />

Other Companions: Painted Daisy; Siberian Iris<br />

These terrestrial orchids native to E. Asia are<br />

lovely in the garden <strong>and</strong> make long-lasting cut flowers<br />

with 5-10 clusters of corsage-type flowers on each 8”-<br />

12” stem. Prefers well-drained, rich soil, sun to light<br />

shade. Top-sized, 2-3 nose, tuber-shaped rootstocks;<br />

4 per sq. ft.; whz 6-10 (we’ve received reports of even<br />

colder whz!); some of the newer types are sports of<br />

others <strong>and</strong> sometimes revert<br />

back to the original type.<br />

Big Bob – similar to striata<br />
