Mission<br />
Research<br />
The mission <strong>of</strong> International Programs in the OSU <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Forestry</strong> is to lead and coordinate<br />
<strong>College</strong> efforts to<br />
• increase awareness <strong>of</strong> global events, trends, and forestry issues that affect <strong>Oregon</strong>ians<br />
and our forests<br />
• develop and maintain excellence in international educational, research, and outreach<br />
activities <strong>of</strong> <strong>College</strong> faculty, students, and staff<br />
• promote, develop, and facilitate international activities and opportunities for <strong>College</strong><br />
faculty, students, and staff; and<br />
• establish the <strong>Oregon</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Forestry</strong> as a global leader in forestry<br />
with strong external linkages with international institutions and networks<br />
International Education Activities<br />
Students participate in study abroad, exchange, and international internship programs available<br />
through the OSU Office <strong>of</strong> International Education and Outreach and advised by the Director <strong>of</strong><br />
Student Services and Head Advisor in the CoF. The <strong>College</strong> International Programs staff actively<br />
promotes these opportunities, hoping to increase student participation in the coming years. The<br />
CoF <strong>of</strong>fers undergraduate and graduate courses to increase student awareness <strong>of</strong> International<br />
<strong>Forestry</strong> issues:<br />

International Partnership for <strong>Forestry</strong> Education<br />
The OSU CoF is a founding member <strong>of</strong> and plays a leadership role in the International Partnership<br />
for <strong>Forestry</strong> Education (IPFE; http://www.forestry.ubc.ca/ipfe/). IPFE members from six<br />
continents foster international cooperation in forestry education and awareness <strong>of</strong> global forestry<br />
issues through a series <strong>of</strong> coordinated activities.<br />
Collaboration with Universities and International Institutions<br />
The CoF is linked to 17 institutions and organizations throughout the world through formal<br />
agreements and informal collaborations:<br />
• formal undergraduate exchange agreements involving reciprocal tuition and fees<br />
• general agreements with universities for exchange <strong>of</strong> faculty and graduate students,<br />
research collaboration, and sharing <strong>of</strong> information and technologies<br />
• general agreements with nonuniversity institutions for cooperative activities, including<br />
internships and traineeships for graduate and undergraduate students<br />
International Research and Development<br />
Students and faculty in the CoF are involved in a wide diversity <strong>of</strong> projects internationally,<br />
including studies examining influences <strong>of</strong> management practices on biodiversity, the influence<br />
