students at the secondary school
level, beginning in 2004.
• Photovoltaics—The New York State
Energy Research and Development
Authority awarded Delhi a $143,500
grant to fund a certified training
program for installers of solarelectric
energy.
• O’Connor Foundation—Awarded
nearly $150,000 to support student
scholarships, the O’Connor Center for
Community Service, and development
of the Olive B. Price Reading Room for
Nursing and Allied Health.
• Senator John Bonacic—Awarded
grants totaling $120,000 to fund new
and replacement equipment for the
Automotive Technology, Computer-
Aided Drafting and Design, Electrical,
Hospitality, Mathematics, Refrigeration
and Air Conditioning, Welding, and
Veterinary Science Technology
programs.
• Corporate Services—Secured training
grants of $265,000 from the New York
State Civil Service Association and
$57,000 from the New York State
Department of Environmental
Conservation.
Conserving Resources
that are available is equally important.
The college has undertaken several major
initiatives with that goal in mind, and
the projected savings those efforts will
generate is impressive.
• Energy Conservation—Energy systems
in three major campus buildings were
replaced and new control systems
were added in residence halls—moves
that will produce annual savings of
more than $400,000.
• Summer Programs—Summer school
has moved to the World Wide Web
and a Delhi education is reaching new
audiences thanks to the Internet. Five
courses were offered last summer and
the response was so strong that
officials are already looking to expand
options next year.
Generating additional funds is one way
for SUNY Delhi to provide students with
a level of excellence that is truly unique.
Becoming more efficient and making
maximum use of the precious resources
Plant Utilities Manager Clyde Bussy drives one of
four GEM (Global Electric Motor) cars that were
donated by DaimlerChrysler through a program
initiated by the New York State Power Authority
(NYSPA). In addition, electric cars on loan from
General Motors helped replace the college’s
aging fleet.
