vs Norths- WCCC 9-135(Kensey 16, Body 20, Irvine 34, Drew
39) d. Norths 123 (Drew 4-27, Cobbold 2-35, Cotton 3-31)
Our captain shrewdly lost the toss and we were again
sent in by Norths on a wicket of doubtful quality; wet
after rain. The opening stand between Messers Kensey and
Body lasted more than an hour and set the scene for a
respectable score with good innings from Chris Body,Brian
Kensey Greg Irvine and "Bob" Drew. "Bob" also bowled well
and good fielding and bowling saw us win a tight match.
The team and the barrackers performed well under presure.
SECOND
GRADE
vs. Ginninderra
Again a disappointing batting display after an opening
partnership of 27 between John Derrick and John Waldron
we collapsed to 8 for 66. But a partnership of 50 between
young Alan Giles and Ray Williams saw us to a modest 118.
Our bowling was again tight and so was the fielding but
Ginninderra managed to pass our score with 9 down.
Bowling honours to Richard Drew who in 19 overs took 5
for 41. Ray Williams bowled 14 overs te take 2 for 12 and
Simon Overland 15 overs, 2 for 23.
vs.Norths
After dismissing Norths for 128 on the first day we
thought we would be in with a chance of winning. Again
the bowling and fielding was tight. S.Overland 2 for 48 ,
T.Overland 2 for 11, Ray Williams 2 for 18 and R. Drew 2
for 15.
But again our poor batting saw us dismissed for a megre
106. Only Alan Giles 19 and Richard Drew 21 giving us
any chance of winning. It is very disappointing in the2nd
grade that so much batting talent is not able to get the
runs.
vs. South Woden
Put into bat on a damp pitch we struggled all dat to
reach 8 for 127 off 56 overs. Thanks to Chris Harris who
in 2% hours made 49 runs. The only other double figures:
Rouse 14 Flemming 14 Williamsl2*.
