vs Norths- WCCC 9-135(Kensey 16, Body 20, Irvine 34, Drew<br />

39) d. Norths 123 (Drew 4-27, Cobbold 2-35, Cotton 3-31)<br />

Our captain shrewdly lost the toss and we were again<br />

sent in by Norths on a wicket of doubtful quality; wet<br />

after rain. The opening stand between Messers Kensey and<br />

Body lasted more than an hour and set the scene for a<br />

respectable score with good innings from Chris Body,Brian<br />

Kensey Greg Irvine and "Bob" Drew. "Bob" also bowled well<br />

and good fielding and bowling saw us win a tight match.<br />

The team and the barrackers performed well under presure.<br />

SECOND<br />

GRADE<br />

vs. Ginninderra<br />

Again a disappointing batting display after an opening<br />

partnership of 27 between John Derrick and John Waldron<br />

we collapsed to 8 for 66. But a partnership of 50 between<br />

young Alan Giles and Ray Williams saw us to a modest 118.<br />

Our bowling was again tight and so was the fielding but<br />

Ginninderra managed to pass our score with 9 down.<br />

Bowling honours to Richard Drew who in 19 overs took 5<br />

for 41. Ray Williams bowled 14 overs te take 2 for 12 and<br />

Simon Overland 15 overs, 2 for 23.<br />

vs.Norths<br />

After dismissing Norths for 128 on the first day we<br />

thought we would be in with a chance of winning. Again<br />

the bowling and fielding was tight. S.Overland 2 for 48 ,<br />

T.Overland 2 for 11, Ray Williams 2 for 18 and R. Drew 2<br />

for 15.<br />

But again our poor batting saw us dismissed for a megre<br />

106. Only Alan Giles 19 and Richard Drew 21 giving us<br />

any chance of winning. It is very disappointing in the2nd<br />

grade that so much batting talent is not able to get the<br />

runs.<br />

vs. South Woden<br />

Put into bat on a damp pitch we struggled all dat to<br />

reach 8 for 127 off 56 overs. Thanks to Chris Harris who<br />

in 2% hours made 49 runs.The only other double figures:<br />

Rouse 14 Flemming 14 Williamsl2*.
