Alzheimer’s Support Group… If you have Alzheimer’s,
or if you know somebody who has...a support group for
people who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s will
meet on Wednesday evenings beginning on Sept. 14 at
6 pm. The meetings will last approximately 1 1/2 hours
and will be held at United Methodist Church, in DL. Dr.
Jack Neufeld will lead the group. For more information

Fall Retreat for Caregivers
September 29, 2011 9:30 a.m-2:00 p.m.
The purpose of this day is to provide retreat time for primary
caregivers in our community who give support or
care to a loved one. This loved one may reside in the
caregiver’s home, their home, or in a facility such as a
nursing home. The Becker County Caregivers’ Support
Team hopes to provide a fun day of respite which will
include a bus trip to Maplewood State Park, lunch, and
entertainment. There is no charge for this event, but
pre-registration is required by Sept. 22. To pre-register,

for your loved one while you are away, please call Sue
Bachleitner at Emmanuel (844-9432) or contact Home

Better Choices, Better Health Workshop
(Formerly Living Well Workshop)
Sanford Health System invites you to participate in a
self-management program for people with chronic or
long-lasting health conditions. This six-part workshop
helps people cope and manage the symptoms and frustration
of living with a health condition. Chronic conditions
include heart disease, breathing problems, stroke,
diabetes, arthritis, fibromyalgia, high blood pressure,
cancer, and others. Designed by Stanford University,
research studies have shown the course is extremely
effective in helping people manage their health problems.
This workshop will be offered at Holy Rosary in St.
Scholastica’s (Parish Center) on 6 consecutive Thursdays
beginning Sept. 22 from 9:00-11:30 each week.

The Sacrament of Marriage is worth celebrating!
Bishop Hoeppner invites people celebrating special anniversaries
(1 st 25 th 40 th 50 th and above 50) to
join in the Celebration of Marriage Day at the
Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Sunday,
October 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Please RSVP to the

Every Tuesday ~ Lot’s of Fun! The members of
the Holy Rosary’s Coffee Club do more than have coffee
and eat dessert! In fact, the reason most of them
come so regular are for the socialization and the ability
to play their favorite card or RummiCub game. We
have whist, bridge, pinochle, Phase 10 and RummiCub
players who are always looking for new individuals
to join us. We meet Tuesday at 2 pm in the
Parish Living Room. We’d love to have you join us!
Trinity Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes, will be
conducting their annual Coat give-a-way for the Detroit
Lakes community this fall. New and/or clean
gently used coats, hats, scarves, and mittens may be
dropped off at Trinity beginning September 1 during
regular office hours which are M-F, 8:00 am – 5:00
pm. Members of the community may come into Trinity
beginning at 9:00 Saturday, September 24 to pick
out items for members of their family. Distribution
will be on a first come – first served basis and continue
for 2 weeks during office hours. There is NO
CHARGE for any of the items. Contact the church office

Catholic United Financial will meet on Sunday, September
11, 10 am in the Holy Rosary School Art
Room. All members are encouraged to come.
Our volunteer for fire victims and the poor is in
need of a kitchen/dining room set. If you have one to
give, drop it off in the garage at 1231 Lincoln Avenue.

NOTES FROM MONSIGNOR TIM:
THIS IS LABOR DAY WEEKEND and the close of the summer vacation
season. We welcome those visiting with you this weekend and hope your stay in
the Minnesota lakes country is pleasant.
STEWARDSHIP OF TIME AND TALENT: Next weekend we will conduct
our annual Stewardship of Time and Talent. Please prayerfully consider what
you would like to do here in the parish over the next year. You may wish to
serve in the same ministries you have in the past or you may wish to stretch
yourself and minister in another area. Take some time this week to consider
your stewardship of time and talent.
FAITH FORMATION REGISTRATION: For those of you who have not yet
registered for our various Faith Formation offerings, you will have the opportunity
to do so after all the Masses next weekend in the Welcoming Center. For
more immediate information you may call Jean Olson, JoAnn Knuttila or Barbara
Schmidt in the Faith Formation Office (847-1393).
RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS will begin in late
September. You will find more information elsewhere in this week’s Parish Bulletin.
Those having questions regarding this journey into the Catholic Church
may call Sr. Kathleen McGeary or Deacon Red Elton at 847-1393.
OUR LOCAL SCHOOLS begin classes on Tuesday. We look forward to
seeing our young people back after a busy summer. Please keep our children,

COLLECTION FOR THE CHURCH IN LATIN AMERICA. Our second
collection next weekend will be the annual collection for the Church in Latin
America. Please be generous.
ROMAN MISSAL: LEARN, PRAY, SHARE: With the coming of the Third
Edition of the Roman Missal comes change. This is an opportunity for us to
focus our attention on the liturgy and refresh ourselves in the gift of the Eucharist
and its deep meanings and to learn and pray with what is new. Participating in a
small Christian Community is one path to knowing, embracing and sharing these
changes and your faith. Consider being part of a small group that will gather in
six weekly sessions and talk about the changes and our experience of Eucharist.
We will use Lifting Up Our Hearts – Praying With the Third Edition of the Roman
Missal from Renew International. More information will be available in the
coming weeks.
THE PARISH EXTENDS ITS SYMPATHY to Barbara Schmidt on the death
of her mother, HELEN LYNCH whose funeral was on Saturday at Plainview,
Minnesota and to the family of RAYMOND TUFTE, whose funeral was held on
Wednesday. May they rest in the peace of the risen Christ!

Infant Baptism Preparation...Next session is Thursday,
October 6 from 7:00 – 8:15 p.m. in the Holy Family
Room. If you are planning to present your child for Baptism,
please contact the Parish Office (847-1393) before
September 1. Whenever possible, try to have both parents
attend the preparation session.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults...Beginning Oct. 2
RCIA sessions will be held on Sundays from 10 – 11 a.m.
in the Parish Resource Center. RCIA is a process for those
who are not yet baptized, or are not Roman Catholic and
would like to be or have not yet celebrated Confirmation
or Eucharist as a Catholic. We have some folks who have
already shown an interest – might there be others If so,
make your intent known to either Deacon Red Elton or
Sister Kathleen McGeary at 847-1393.
Liturgical Ministers ...At every weekend liturgy we need
many liturgical ministers: musicians, sacristans, altar
servers, greeters, ushers, announcers, readers, Ministers
of Holy Communion, and gift bearers– plus folks to schedule
the Liturgical Ministers. Time & Talent sheets for
2011-2012 will be handed out on the weekend of Sept.
10/11. Please prayerfully consider how you might continue
(or begin) sharing your God-given talents as a Liturgical
Minister.

We are hoping to again make available the nursery on
Sunday mornings during the 9:00 a.m. Mass. Our intentions
are to begin this on September 11. Therefore, we
are looking for adult supervisors and young people to
staff the nursery. If you can help do service just once a

ALL MOM’S ARE WELCOME!
Moms with children of all ages are invited to join the Holy Rosary
Mom’s Group that will meet every 2 nd Saturday of the month from
9 to 10:30 a.m. in the Parish Living Room. This group will share in
Catholic fellowship, parenting activities and service projects for our
parish. Childcare will be provided. Our first meeting will be September

My brothers and sisters, what a wonderful time
of the year we are in now: school is about to begin
again, fall sports are in full swing, and our youth
ministry is going to be filled with new adventures. I
hope that your summer went well and that you
accomplished all that you had desired to do and
then some. As we transition into this new school
year I want to present a challenge to you...Pray with
ceasing (1 Thes. 5:17). Pray for us here at the
church as we pray for you. Our Lord loves us so
much and desires to be in communication with us.
I heard a priest challenge his congregation by saying,
"take 10, plus 2, plus family". What this
means is to take 10 minutes of prayer, add 2 sacraments
(reconciliation and Eucharist) and take family
time.
In youth news, look for upcoming events. We
have many fundraising opportunities so if you are
willing to help, let me know. We will be having the
senior high rally coming up soon and also be planning
for a possible senior trip. Thank you all.
Through the Sacred Heart of Jesus let us join our
prayers to the heavens.
