These patients are new patients seen in the Table I<br />

clinic for acute rhinitis, and after taking the clinical<br />

history, vital signs and complete proper ENT Gradingof NasalSymptomScores<br />

examinations, an informed consent is obtained. Proper<br />

advice and precautions are given. Laboratory 0 = NOsymptoms;normal feeling<br />

examination performed are: CBC, Urinalysis, BUN, 1 = Mild symptoms; slightly bothersome<br />

Serum creatinine, Total bilirium, SGOT, SGPT and 2 = Moderatesymptoms; bothersome<br />

Alkaline phosphatase. Patients are then given buttolerable<br />

medication good for 3 days in an envelope, and are 3 = severe and intolerable<br />

advised how to take them and when to return for<br />

follow-up examinations and treatment. Patients are<br />

given a symptom diary card and are advised on how<br />

to recordhissypmtomsaftertaking the medicine. The Table II<br />

card is returned on the 1st follow-up visit (3days<br />

later). When the patients returnfor the first follow- RatingScorefor Therapeutic Response to Treatup<br />

treatment, vital signs and the clinical history ment<br />

concerning the improvement of their symptom and<br />

any adverseeffects aretaken andverified. Another 1 = excellent;all symptoms are relieved<br />
