at improving students' personal effectiveness as managers.<br />

Managing a Diverse Workforce<br />
This course concerns the increasing diversity <strong>of</strong> the work force and<br />
the major challenges and opportunities faced by organizations and<br />
their managers. Topics will include: maintaining fairness and justice,<br />
making effective decisions for performance improvement, allowing<br />
flexibility, and managing in the global environment. The course also<br />
examines the legal frameworks in place that value and protect<br />
employee and employer rights related to gender, race, age, religion,<br />
sexual orientation, ability, etc.<br />

Managing Information Systems<br />
An overview <strong>of</strong> management and organizational issues surrounding<br />

organizations. Topics will include: the evolution <strong>of</strong> the IS/IT functions,<br />
functional area systems, current trends, strategy, managing and<br />
acquiring IS resources and ethical issues surrounding IS/IT.<br />

Intermediate Financial Accounting I<br />
This course continues and builds upon the study <strong>of</strong> financial<br />
accounting begun in BUS 285. It extends students' understanding <strong>of</strong><br />
generally accepted accounting principles through an in-depth<br />
examination <strong>of</strong> asset, liability and shareholders' equity valuation, and<br />
income measurement and financial statement analysis. It provides a<br />
greater awareness <strong>of</strong> the underlying rationale <strong>of</strong> existing practice and<br />
an appreciation <strong>of</strong> the characteristics and limitations <strong>of</strong> accounting.<br />

Auditing Theory and Application<br />
This course emphasizes the philosophy <strong>of</strong> auditing and its importance<br />

include: audits, responsibilities <strong>of</strong> auditors, and the objectives <strong>of</strong><br />
independent audit.<br />

Business Strategy<br />
This course focuses on the formulation and implementation <strong>of</strong> policy<br />
and strategy. It centers on the role and responsibilities <strong>of</strong> the general<br />
manager in formulating the goals and objectives <strong>of</strong> an organization; on<br />
integrating policies, plans, and programs; and, on using structures and<br />
systems <strong>of</strong> personal influence so that the organization can operate<br />
with a sense <strong>of</strong> direction and purpose.<br />
