A dynamic, systemic approach to the development <strong>of</strong> a positive<br />

classroom environment. The course will address the growing numbers<br />

<strong>of</strong> students and teachers in conflict over behavioral expectations.<br />

Current research and effective practice will be examined in an effort to<br />

find workable manageable strategies to prevent and resolve such<br />

conflict.<br />

for students with developmental disabilities, issues <strong>of</strong><br />

equity, gender, culture in inclusive education, and new curricula and<br />

pedagogies.<br />

This course focuses on understanding the construct <strong>of</strong> "disability". We<br />

will look at the writings <strong>of</strong> people with disabilities and use their selfaccounts<br />

to develop a cultural understanding <strong>of</strong> disability. With this<br />

information in mind, the course concentrates on methods <strong>of</strong> working<br />

with students whose performance differs from the established norm.<br />
