Nodyn Hanesyddol 

Sefydlwyd Ysgol Maes Garmon yn 1961 gyda 109 o ddisgyblion ar y gofrestr a 7 o staff. Yn 1963 symudodd yr 

ysgol i’w safle bresennol ac ers hynny mae sawl datblygiad wedi bod o ran adeiladau a chyfleusterau. Ym 1966 

daeth 16 o ddysgwyr i’r ysgol adyma oedd man cychwyn y cwrs ‘Trochi’ fel mae’n cael ei alw erbyn heddiw. 

An Historical Note 

Ysgol Maes Garmon was established in 1961 and had 109 pupils on roll and 7 teachers. In 1963 the school 

moved to its current location and has seen many improvements in terms of buildings and facilities. In 1966, 16 

Welsh learners came to the school and this was the start of the ‘Immersion course’ as we now call it. 

Ysgol gyfun Gymraeg ydy Ysgol Maes Garmon, ac mae hi’n gartref addysgol i tua 570 o ddisgyblion o bob 

gallu rhwng 11 a 18 oed. Mewn awyrgylch gartrefol, bydd ein disgyblion yn dilyn cwricwlwm eang, cytbwys a 

diddorol sy’n berthnasol i’w datblygiad academaidd, galwedigaethol a chymdeithasol. Yn ogystal â nifer helaeth 

o weithgareddau allgyrsiol, mae traddodiad ym Maes Garmon o ofalu’n dda am ein disgyblion. Mae’n 

disgwyliadau ni yn uchel ac mae’n disgyblion yn ymateb yn gadarnhaol i hynny o ran safon eu gwaith, 

ymddygiad, hunan-ddisgyblaeth a hunan-hyder.

Ysgol Maes Garmon is a Welsh comprehensive school and it is the educational home of about 570 pupils of all 

abilities between 11 and 18 years old. In a homely atmosphere, our pupils follow a broad, balanced, interesting 

curriculum, which is relevant to their academic, vocational and social development. As well as a wide-ranging 

array of extra-curricular activities, Maes Garmon has a tradition of caring for its pupils. Our expectations are 

high and the pupils respond positively to them in terms of academic performance, behaviour, self-discipline and 

self-confidence. 

Ysgol Maes Garmon is situated near the centre of the lively market town of Mold, the administrative centre of 

Flintshire, but our pupils come to us from a very wide catchment area – from Deeside to the Vale of Clwyd, 

from Prestatyn to Llanfynydd.

Mae’r adeilad i gyd o dan do, ac eithrio’r fynedfa i’r Ganolfan Chwaraeon a’r bloc Dylunio a Thechnoleg. 

Mae gan yr ysgol amrywiaeth nodedig o ardaloedd arbenigol:

• Darpariaeth lawn ar gyfer Chwaraeon a Hamdden – mae’r Ganolfan Chwaraeon a’r Gampfa yn cynnig 

cyfleusterau ar gyfer sboncen, badminton, tennis dan do, tennis bwrdd, pêl-fasged, a phwll nofio.

The entire building is under one roof, with the exception of the entrance to the Sports Centre and the Design 

and Technology block. 

The school has an impressive range of specialist areas: 

• New Science block with 6 laboratories. 

• A wide range of classrooms, equipped with data projectors or interactive whiteboards. 

• A new Library and study area offering a comprehensive book and multi-media learning resource plus a 

careers library. 

• Specialist music and peripatetic teaching rooms. 

• New Design and Technology block which includes provision for Computer Aided Design, Workshops, 

Food and Textiles areas. 

• Video conferencing suite for distance learning and international links. 

• Full provision for Information and Communication Technology in Network Computer suites allowing 

access to school and County networks as well as the Internet. 

• Study areas and common room areas for Sixth Form students. 

• Full provision for Sport and Recreation - The Sports Centre, and Gymnasium offer facilities for squash, 

badminton, indoor tennis, table tennis, basketball, and swimming pool. 

• Playing fields with hockey, football, rugby, cricket pitches, athletics track, tennis courts and a floodlit 

Astroturf pitch.

Mae’r ysgol yn perthyn i ddalgylch eang a derbynnir disgyblion o ysgolion gwledig a threfol sy’n amrywio o 

ran eu maint. Ceir perthynas agos rhwng Ysgol Maes Garmon a’r ysgolion cynradd sy’n ein bwydo a threfnir

Trosglwyddo 

Fe ddylai’r broses o drosglwyddo o’r ysgol gynradd i’r ysgol uwchradd fod yn un llyfn a phleserus i ddisgyblion 

a rhieni. Yn Ysgol Maes Garmon mae trefniadau manwl yn eu lle er mwyn sicrhau fod y disgybl yn teimlo fel 

aelod o’r ysgol erbyn iddo/i gyrraedd ym mis Medi. 

Yn ystod tymor yr haf fe fydd athrawon Ysgol Maes Garmon yn ymweld â phob disgybl yn ei ysgol gynradd ac 

yna fe fyddwn yn eu croesawu atom i dreulio amser yn yr ysgol hon. Hefyd, trefnir cyrsiau preswyl i osod 

sylfaen gymdeithasol cyn mis Medi. Defnyddir canolfannau Cenedlaethol yr Urdd, sef Glan Llyn a 

Llangrannog ar gyfer y cyrsiau hyn. 

‘Mae cyswllt ardderchog rhwng yr ysgol ac ysgolion cynradd cyfrwng Cymraeg a chyfrwng Saesneg sy’n 

bwydo’r ysgol a rhaglen anwytho’r ysgol sy’n sicrhau bod disgyblion B7 yn ymgartrefu’n gyflym. Mae 

hyn yn gryfder ac fe gaiff hynny ei gadarnhau gan rieni a disgyblion. Mae’r cyfle a gaiff disgyblion B6 o’r 

ysgolion cynradd cyfrwng Cymraeg sy’n bwydo’r ysgol i fynd i wersyll Llangrannog gyda disgyblion B7 

yn llwyddiant amlwg.’

Yn ogystal â’r trefniadau hyn ar gyfer y disgyblion, bydd cyfarfod croeso i rieni newydd ym mis Gorffennaf a 

chyfarfod bugeiliol ym mis Hydref lle bydd rhieni’n cael y cyfle i gyfarfod â staff a thrafod cynnydd eu plentyn 

ers dechrau’r flwyddyn. Mae croeso i rieni a disgyblion newydd ymweld a’r ysgol drwy drefnu apwyntiad 

gyda’r swyddfa

NEW PUPILS 

The school has a wide and varied catchment area and pupils are received from rural and urban schools which 

vary in their size. A close relationship has always existed between Ysgol Maes Garmon and local primary 

schools and the heads and teachers from these schools meet Maes Garmon staff to discuss the pupils’ education 

and to ensure a smooth progression from the primary to the secondary sector.

During the past 5 years pupils have joined the Immersion scheme from over 30 different English medium 

primary schools. 

Transition 

The transition process between primary and secondary school should be a smooth and pleasurable one for 

pupils and parents alike. At Ysgol Maes Garmon there are detailed arrangements in place to ensure that pupils 

already feel like members of the school by the time they arrive in September. 

During the summer term teachers from Ysgol Maes Garmon visit every pupil in their primary school and in turn 

we welcome our new pupils to spend some time here. Residential courses are also arranged to lay a social 

foundation before September. The Urdd's national centres at Glan Llyn and Llangrannog are used for these 

courses. 

‘There is an excellent link between the school and Welsh and English medium primary schools that feed the 

school and its induction programme that ensures Y7 pupils settle quickly. This is a strength confirmed by 

parents and pupils. The opportunity for Y6 pupils from the primary schools that feed the school to go to the 

Llangrannog camp with Y7 pupils is a manifest success’ 

Estyn Inspection 2006 

In addition to these arrangements for pupils there will be a meeting for all new parents in July and a pastoral 

parents evening in October. These meetings will give parents the opportunity to meet staff and discuss their 

child’s progress since the start of term. 

Parents and new pupils are always welcome to visit the school and appointments can be made by contacting the 

school office. 


CWRS TROCHI 

Mae penderfynu magu eich plant yn ddwyieithog yn benderfyniad pwysig ac yn un fydd yn cael effaith ar 

weddill eu hoes ac ar eich bywyd chi fel rhieni. Mae yna lawer o fanteision o fod yn gallu siarad dwy iaith. 

Bydd eich plant yn gallu mwynhau dau ddiwylliant a hefyd yn gallu pontio’r cenedlaethau wrth siarad yr un 

iaith â’u teidiau a’u neiniau neu’r teulu estynedig. 

Mae yna hefyd fanteision economaidd. Yng Nghymru heddiw, mae cyflogwyr yn chwilio am bobl sy’n gallu 

siarad Cymraeg a Saesneg ac yn gallu gweithio trwy gyfrwng y ddwy iaith. Mae ymchwil yn dangos bod plant 

sy’n deall mwy nag un iaith yn gallu meddwl yn fwy hyblyg a chreadigol. 

Mae gan Ysgol Maes Garmon hanes llwyddiannus o groesawu disgyblion 11 oed nad oes ganddynt fawr o 

Gymraeg a fynychodd ysgolion cynradd cyfrwng Saesneg drwy eu trochi’n llythrennol yn yr iaith Gymraeg. 

Yn 2004, fe estynnwyd y cynllun oedd eisoes yn bodoli yn Ysgol Maes Garmon mewn partneriaeth â Bwrdd yr 

Iaith Gymraeg i gynnig cwrs iaith dwys i holl ddisgyblion Blwyddyn 6 am 6 wythnos ar ddiwedd tymor yr haf. 

Mae’r cwrs yma’n darparu cyfle i ddisgyblion ddechrau dysgu Cymraeg cyn iddynt ddechrau blwyddyn 7 ac yn 

cynorthwyo’r broses pontio rhwng yr ysgol gynradd a’r ysgol uwchradd. 

‘Mae cwrs dwys i drochi dysgwyr B6 yn y Gymraeg cyn iddynt ddod i Maes Garmon yn ffordd o sicrhau 

eu bod yn ymgartrefu’n hapus, ac mae’r ddarpariaeth a gynigir i’r disgyblion yma, yn fugeiliol, yn 

ieithyddol ac yn academaidd, yn nodwedd ragorol.’ 


Mae cwricwlwm arbennig yn cael ei ddarparu ar gyfer disgyblion y cwrs trochi. Ym mlwyddyn 7, mae cwrs 

iaith Gymraeg dwys yn cael ei ddarparu ar gyfer y rhai sy’n dod i Ysgol Maes Garmon yn ddi-gymraeg. Mae 

staff sy’n arbenigo mewn ieithoedd a phynciau eraill yn canolbwyntio i ddechrau ar gyflwyno’r disgyblion i’r 

iaith Gymraeg, a ddaw’n gyfrwng ar gyfer astudio pynciau eraill yn uwch o fyny’r ysgol. Y nod yw darparu 

ystod eang o weithgareddau er mwyn rhoi profiad cyfoethog o ddysgu iddynt trwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg, yn 

cynnwys cyrsiau preswyl. 

Mae rhaglen gyfannol o astudiaeth yn darparu cwricwlwm llawn a chynhwysfawr yn cynnwys Hanes, 

Daearyddiaeth a Drama sy’n cael eu hintegreiddio i’r sesiynau gweithgaredd. Mae Saesneg, Maths, 

Gwyddoniaeth, Technoleg, Addysg Gorfforol, Addysg Grefyddol, Celf a Cherddoriaeth yn cwblhau’r rhaglen ar 

gyfer y flwyddyn. Mae’r cyflwyniad o Ffrangeg yn cael ei gwtogi i un wers yr wythnos er mwyn rhoi amser i 

ddisgyblion atgyfnerthu eu Cymraeg. 

Nod yr ysgol yw galluogi disgyblion i ymdopi â bywyd trwy gyfrwng dwy iaith, ac rydym yn eu hannog i 

ddefnyddio’r Gymraeg cymaint â phosib ar gyfer cymdeithasu yn ogystal â gwaith. Gofynnwch i’r ysgol am 

gopi o’r DVD sy’n dweud mwy wrthych am y profiad o fod yn ddysgwr Cymraeg yn Ysgol Maes Garmon. 

Erbyn dechrau blwyddyn 9, mae’r holl ddisgyblion cwrs trochi yn cael eu hintegreiddio’n llawn i’w grŵp 

blwyddyn ym mhob maes cwricwlwm.

IMMERSION COURSE 

Deciding to bring up your children bilingually is an important decision and is one which will affect the rest of 

their lives and your lives as parents. There are many advantages to being able to speak two languages. Your 

children will be able to enjoy two cultures and they will also be able to bridge between generations, by speaking 

the same language as their grandparents or their extended family. 

There are also economic advantages. In Wales today, employers are looking for people who can speak and work 

in both English and Welsh. Research shows that children who understand more than one language are able to 

think more flexibly and creatively. 

Ysgol Maes Garmon has a successful history of welcoming 11 year old pupils who have none or very little 

Welsh and have attended English medium primary schools by quite literally immersing them in the Welsh 

language. 

In 2004 Ysgol Maes Garmon’s exisiting Immersion scheme, in partneship with the Welsh Language Board, was 

extended to offer all Year 6 pupils a 6 week intensive language course at the end of the summer term. This 

course provides pupils with the opportunity to start learning Welsh before they start year 7 and aids the 

transition process between primary and secondary school. 

‘an intensive course to immerse Y6 learners in Welsh before they come to Maes Garmon as a way of 

ensuring they settle in happily, and the provision offered to these pupils, pastorally, linguistically and 

academically, is an outstanding feature.’ 


A special curriculum is provided for Immersion course pupils. In year 7, an intensive Welsh language course is 

provided for those who enter Ysgol Maes Garmon as non-Welsh speakers. Specialist staff in languages and 

other subject areas concentrate initially on introducing the pupils to Welsh, which will become the medium of 

studying other subjects further up the school. The aim is to provide a broad range of activities to give them a 

rich experience of learning through the medium of Welsh, including residential courses. 

An integrated programme of study provides a full and comprehensive curriculum including History, Geography 

and Drama which are integrated into the activities sessions. English, Maths, Science, Technology, Physical 

Education, R.E, Art and Music complete the programme for the year. The introduction of French is reduced to 

one lesson a week to allow pupils time to consolidate their Welsh. 

The aim of the school is to enable our pupils to cope with life through the medium of two languages and we 

encourage them to use Welsh as often as possible for socialising as well as work. Please ask the school for a 

copy of the DVD which tells you more about the experience of being a Welsh learner at Ysgol Maes Garmon. 

By the start of Year 9 all Immersion course pupils are fully integrated into their year group for all curriculum 

areas.

Welsh is the official language of the school and the main medium of each lesson. One of our fundamental aims 

is to enrich every facet of the lives of our pupils through the medium of two languages.

At the beginning of year 7, we give the pupils CATs 

(Cognitive Ability Tests), and we use the results from 

these test to examine each pupil’s learning style. The 

test results ar used to identify pupils needs more

As is usual in all secondary schools, our pupils are 

asked at the end of Year 9 to choose certain subjects to 

study in greater detail for GCSE qualifications. An 

information booklet is prepared and guidance is given 

by form tutors, subject teachers, head of year and 

Careers Wales to every pupil as they make these 

important choices. Parental involvement in this 

process is essential and a parents evening is held in 

the spring term to discuss pupils’ options.

THE TERTIARY SECTION 

The majority of our 16+ students return to Ysgol Maes 

Garmon every year to join the sixth form to study AS, 

A level and Vocational courses. We provide a broad

Mae Ysgol Maes Garmon yn cyflwyno’r Fagloriaeth Gymreig ers 2009 ac mae’n orfodol i bob myfyriwr yn y 

Chweched Dosbarth. Mae’r Diploma Uwch yn cyfateb i radd A mewn Lefel A (Safon Uwch) ac yn werth 120 

pwynt UCAS. Mae’r profiadau a gaiff myfyrwyr yn sgil Y Fagloriaeth yn datblygu a chywreinio’r sgiliau a 

rhinweddau perthnasol mae cyflogwyr a sefydliadau addysg yn chwilio amdanynt. Mae’r profiadau hefyd yn 

cyfoethogi’r wybodaeth fanwl bynciol sydd eisoes yn cael ei darparu trwy’r Opsiynau. Gyda’r pwyslais ar 

ddysgu trwy wneud, ynghŷd â chyfleoedd i weithio gyda chyflogwyr, i ymwneud â gweithgareddau anturus a 

gweithio yn y gymuned i ddatblygu sgiliau angenrheidiol ar gyfer y dyfodol, mae’r Fagloriaeth Gymreig yn 

gymhwyster gwerthfawr a phwysig iawn i fyfyrwyr Ysgol Maes Garmon.

o’r myfyrwyr gyngor ac arweiniad arbennigol gan aelodau o staff sy’n eu hadnabod ers blwyddyn 7 i lunio 

ceisiadau Coleg neu Brifysgol a’u mentora’n rheolaidd i sicrhau eu bod yn cyflawni eu potensial. 

The Welsh Baccalaureate 

The Welsh Baccalaureate is a qualification, which recognises almost everything young people do in school. It 

includes current, approved Advanced Level, GCSE and Vocational courses and adds breadth and balance 

through a core curriculum. Ysgol Maes Garmon has offered the Welsh Baccalaureate since 2009 and it is a 

compulsory study area for all students. The Advanced Diploma corresponds to an A grade at Advanced Level 

which corresponds to 120 UCAS points. The experiences which the students gain through the Baccalaureate 

develop and embellish their personal skills and attributes which is what employers and educational 

establishments are looking for. These experiences also enrich the detailed subject knowledge which is already 

being provided via the Options. With the emphasis on learning by doing, together with the opportunities to work 

with employers, to be involved in adventurous activities and work in the community to develop necessary skills 

for the future, the Welsh Baccalaureate is a valuable and important qualification for the students of Ysgol Maes 

Garmon. 

Our students have an excellent record of entry to Universities and Colleges. Every student will be given expert 

guidance and advice by staff, who have known them since year 7 when making their College and University 

applications. Mentoring schemes for students encourage them to fulfil their potential and achieve target grades.

Amcan yr ysgol ydy darparu cwricwlwm a gweithgareddau a fydd yn ysgogi a chryfhau cymhelliant y 

disgyblion fel eu bod yn cyrraedd eu llawn botensial. Credwn y gellir gweithredu hyn drwy gadw’n 

disgwyliadau o berfformiad pob disgybl yn uchel, a thrwy roi sylw arbennig i bob unigolyn. Cyfrifoldeb pob un 

o’r athrawon ydy pob disgybl. Trefnir darpariaeth arbennig i rai grwpiau neu unigolion sydd angen cymorth 

ychwanegol, ac fe weithredir rhestr argymhellion y Llywodraeth trwy’r camau Anghenion Addysgol

The aim of the school is to provide a curriculum and activities which will stimulate and reinforce the pupils’ 

motivation so that they achieve their full potential. We believe that we can achieve this be keeping a high 

expectation of every pupil’s performance, and by giving each pupil special attention. Every pupil is the 

responsibility of every teacher. Support is arranged for some groups or individual pupils with additional needs 

statements but we do not label pupils by withdrawing them from their classes permanently. Individual pupil 

statements are acted upon in line with the Additional Needs Code of Practice. The school has a team of 

Additional Needs teachers and Classroom Support Workers, as well as the LEA’s Behaviour Support Teacher, 

Educational Social Worker and Education Psychologist.

Homework is set regularly to reinforce classwork and it’s important for every pupil to complete the work on 

time and to the required standard. The nature of homework is varied and we hope that parents will support their 

children by encouraging them to work regularly, using the Dyddiadur Gwaith Cartref (homework diary), 

provided for all pupils in years 7-11, and use it as a vital link between home and school. 

Pupils and parents are encouraged to use the Welsh Language Board Homework Support Line which provides

Parents are asked to contact their child’s Head of Year if there are any problems with homework.

Ysgol Maes Garmon is justly proud of its family atmosphere, which fosters academic and social success. You,

When a pupil comes to Ysgol Maes Garmon, he or she becomes a member of a class (7G, 7A, 7R, 7N) and the 

tutor and Head of Year will stay with those pupils for five years. The school stresses to all pupils the importance 

of punctuality and good attendance.

Personal and Social Education 

A team of teachers is responsible for teaching the Personal Education programme to the classes – under the 

direction of the PSE co-ordinator. The aim of the programme is to underpin the moral, spiritual, social and 

cultural education of our students.

Examination results are only one aspect of the success of a school. Ysgol Maes Garmon is a very busy school 

with a tradition of generating a number of varied extra-curricular activities which enrich the lives and 

experiences of our pupils. A list of the school’s successes during last year is included in this prospectus.

The school insists on high standards of behaviour. The school operates a system of rewards for special effort 

which encourages students to work to the best of their ability and to develop high standards of respect, courtesy

ADDYSG GYRFAU / CAREERS EDUCATION 

Mae'r ysgol yn arddel addysg gyrfau fel gwasanaeth hollbwysig i'r bobl ifanc sydd yn ei gofal. Mae 

cysylltiadau arbennig o dda gyda Gyrfa Cymru, a hynny ar ben rhaglen addysg gyrfau cynhwysfawr o flwyddyn 

9 ymlaen. Bydd pob disgybl yn cael cyfnod o brofiad gwaith yn ystod blwyddyn 10 a blwyddyn 12. Anogir 

disgyblion i ddefnyddio eu dwy iaith ar leoliad gwaith ac i gofio eu bod yn cyNrychioli eu hunain ac enw da yr 

ysgol ar y un pryd. 

Yn ychwanegol i’r cyfnodau o brofiad gwaith bydd pawb ym mlwyddyn 8 yn cael Wythnos Fenter a bydd

The school sees careers education as an essential part of its service for the young people in its care. We have 

excellent links with Careers Wales, as well as a comprehensive careers education programme from year 9 

onwards. Every pupil will have a period of Work Experience during year 10 and also during year 12 and they 

are encouraged to use both their languages in their placement and to remember that thaey are representing 

themselves and the good name of the school at the same time. 

In addition to periods of work experience year 8 pupils take part in an Enterprise Week and year 10 and sixth 

form students have the opportunity to form and run their own company as part of the Youth Enterprise scheme. 

Our students also compete in the National Engineering Scheme.

The school believes that keeping fit is essential to living a full and active life. For those pupils who have the 

ability and interest, team games, including soccer, rugby, netball and hockey are arranged between local 

schools and in local and national competitions. There is an opportunity to study Physical Education to A level, 

in addition to the statutory Physical Education curriculum. Numerous pupils have been chosen to represent 

their county, North Wales or Wales in a variety of sports and the school is very proud of these achievements. 

In addition to Physical Education lessons every pupil has the opportunity to participate in activities organised 

by our 5 x 60 Officer. These activies are varied and place an emphasis on taking part, having fun and keeping 

fit.

ADDYSG GREFYDDOL 

Cyflwynir Addysg ar Grefyddau mawr y byd a thrafodir materion moesol a chymdeithasol y dydd yn ystod gwersi Addysg 

Grefyddol. Bydd pob disgybl yn ymuno mewn cyfnod o addoli ar y cyd yn ddyddiol. Cyflwynir materion cyfoes i’w 

hystyried, a rhoddir cyfle i fyfyrio ar ein hymateb i’r materion hyn. Gall rhieni ofyn am eithrio’u plant o’r gwasanaethau 

am resymau cred neu ddaliadau crefyddol. 

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION 

Pupils learn about the main World Religions in RE lessons. There are also opportunities to discuss moral and social 

issues in these lessons. Every pupil will take part in a daily period of collective worship. Issues of the day are presented 

for consideration, followed by a period of reflection. Parents may request the withdrawal of their children from the 

services on religious grounds. 

ADDYSG RHYW 

Cymeradwywyd polisi addysg rhyw yr ysgol gan y Llywodraethwyr, ac fe’i cyflwynir yn ystod y rhaglen Addysg 

Bersonol, lle y trafodir cydberthynas yng nghyd-destun y teulu, mewn gwersi Gwyddoniaeth a rhai pynciau eraill. Yn

SEX EDUCATION 

The school’s policy was adopted by the Governors for introducing Sex Education during the programme of Personal 

Education, where inter-relationships are discussed in the context of the family, in Science lessons and in some other 

subjects. From time to time, presentations are made to all pupils by specialist advisers. The Governors believe that Sex 

Education is important for all pupils, but you, as parents, have the right to withdraw your child from these lessons by 

writing to the school beforehand.

HEALTH AND SAFETY 

The health and safety of all pupils, and indeed everyone who works on the site, or who visits the site, is of the highest 

priority. Every care is taken when pupils are taken off site, whether that be locally or further afield, such as visits to 

mainland Europe. 

Health and safety are priorities in all lessons, and some subject areas must follow more stringent guidelines. More 

information on these matters is available from the school or the relevant department. 

All visitors to school must sign the record book in the school office.

School Lunch 

School lunch is provided in the form of hot meal, salads or snacks. Healthy Eating is promoted widely and pupils are 

encouraged to choose wisely. Please contact the School Office about the provision of free school meals for families on 

Income Support. A copy of the school menu and prices are included in this pack.

Mae canlyniadau’r ysgol yn gyson uchel mewn arholiadau cyhoeddus, ac yn cael eu cyhoeddi’n rheolaidd. 

TGAU ar ddiwedd blwyddyn 11 a’r arholiadau Uwch Gyfrannol (AS) a Safon Uwch yw prif arholiadau’r 

mwyafrif o ddisgyblion. Caiff lefelau Cwricwlwm Cenedlaethol eu rhoi i blant ar derfyn blwyddyn 9 yn y 

pynciau Craidd a’r pynciau Sylfaen i gyd. Dros y blynyddoedd bu gwelliant cyson yn y canlyniadau hyn, ac un 

o brif nodau’r ysgol yw parhau i wella’r canlyniadau er lles pob disgybl unigol.

The school’s results are consistently high in public examinations and are published regularly. The main exams 

for the majority of pupils are GCSE at the end of year 11 and AS and A Level in the sixth form. National 

Curriculum levels are awarded in the Core and Foundation subjects at the end of year 9. Over the years the 

results have improved consistently, and one of the school's main aims is to continue to improve on these results 

for the benefit of each individual pupil.
