WALDO’S COMING TO STANWOOD !
Where’s Waldo This July, he’ll be right here in Stanwood! Waldo’s
turning 25 this year, and to celebrate, that world-famous fellow in
the striped shirt and black-rimmed specs will be visiting numerous
local businesses from July 16th through July 29th. Miniature
Waldos will be popping up all over town, and those who spot him
can win prizes. Anyone wishing to participate can pick up a “Find
Waldo in Stanwood” search list with the names of all the businesses
included in the search starting on Monday, July 16th at the
Snow Goose Bookstore, 8616 271st Street NW, Stanwood. Look
for Waldo at any of the participating locations during those two
weeks, and collect an “I Found Waldo at _____” card for each Waldo
spotted. Each seeker who has collected cards in 15 or more different
businesses and turns them in at the Snow Goose Bookstore
before Monday, July 30th will win a Waldo button and automatically
be entered in a drawing for other, larger prizes to be awarded
at a Waldo’s Here! party on July 31st at the Snow Goose. Grand
Prize in the drawing is a complete boxed six-volume set of Waldo
books. Waldo is the creation of author Martin Handford, whose
intricate drawings of Waldo lost in various crowd scenes have
entertained and challenged millions around the world from their
very first appearance in 1987. There are now over 55 million Waldo
books in print worldwide and they’ve been translated into eighteen
languages. In celebration of Waldo’s longevity and popularity,
his American publisher, Candlewick Press, is teaming up with
the American Booksellers Association and 250 independent bookstores
all across the country, including the Snow Goose Bookstore
here in Stanwood, to have some fun and to encourage people to
visit local, independent businesses. There is no charge to participate,
and participants can search anytime between July 16th and
