As soccer season finally rolls around, the girls’ soccer team is kickin’ it into gear. Coaching the
team for his second season is Coach Nesselhuf along with three-year returning assistant and JV coach
Conejo. There are eight seniors this year: Stephanie Cadena, Cristal Ugarte, Julia Vega, Clarissa Fierro,
Martina Gonzalez, Annel Perez, Lilli Savadra, and Kylie Jones. As a team, the Lady Cyclones are hoping
to win more games. According to co-captain Kylie Jones, the toughest competition will be Mill Valley, but
she expects the team to beat Wyandotte, Harmon, Christo Rey, Washington, Sumner and Schlagle.
Coach Nesselhuf says he is happy that experienced players are returning, and he is looking forward
to learning about the new players. He says the snow has put everyone in a bind, but his overall goal is to
take baby steps toward excellence. He hopes that they can beat any and all teams, and he guarantees the
girls will be in good shape.
Cristal Ugarte is a three-year returning soccer player. She’s looking forward to starting off the
season and getting to play again. She hopes that everyone can play as a team and that she can take great
memories away from this season.
Stephanie Cadena has also played soccer for three years. She looks forward to seeing the Cyclones
cheering the team on at home games, and her goal is to have better teamwork on the field. Since this is her
last year, she hopes to take the State title.
Julia Vega is a fourth-year returner.
She looks forward to serving as co-captain
and winning as many games as possible.
Her goals are to grow closer as a team and
to get recognized by colleges.
Clarissa Fierro has also played
soccer all four years of high school. She
hopes to have a successful season and is
excited to get to know the new players and
to make new friends.
We encourage everyone to come
out and support the team.
Go Lady Cyclones.
