Procedures for promulgation and routing of NAVAREA warnings
6. The procedures to be followed by requesting authorities for promulgation and
routing of NAVAREA warnings are as appended below:-
(a)
Warnings of Routine nature.
(i) Warnings concerning casualties to navigational aids, hazards,
fleet exercises, routine firing by naval coastal battery etc are to be
forwarded directly to O i/c Naval Chart Depot (Mumbai) with a copy to
Chief Hydrographer (NAVAREA VIII Coordinator) at NHO, Dehradun.
The authentication of such information by their originator is to be
ensured by Naval Chart Depot (Mumbai) prior to issue of NAVAREA
warning.
(ii) Requests for NAVAREAs due to scheduled repair to
navigational aids e.g. Stoppage of DGPS transmission, Maintenance of
Lighthouse, planned salvage operations etc should be received
minimum three working days prior to the scheduled operation.
(iii) Agencies (DGLL, Port Authorities, Coast Guard, Ship Owners
etc) are to notify the NAVAREA VIII Coordinator/NCD (MB) as soon as
possible for issue of NAVAREA warning in case of any urgent
navigational information (missing/drifting buoys, sunken
