The Support Center<br />

The Support Center is a statewide nonprofit and Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI)<br />

that provides small business loans and financial training to start-ups and existing businesses; and<br />

lending services to community-based organizations.<br />

Since 1990, The Support Center has been offering services to create economic opportunities <strong>for</strong><br />

individuals, families and entrepreneurs throughout North Carolina. Our primary activities include our<br />

<strong>Small</strong> Business Revolving Loan program, Policy & Research, and Advocacy <strong>for</strong> Community Development<br />

Credit Unions.<br />

The Support Center’s <strong>Small</strong> Business Lending Program is designed to actively reach out to underserved<br />

communities to help emerging entrepreneurs realize their economic goals <strong>for</strong> business ownership,<br />

expansion and job creation. The Support Center creates opportunities <strong>for</strong> new and existing business<br />

owners to build economic wealth <strong>for</strong> themselves and their families while improving communities.<br />

Purposes <strong>for</strong> the loans may include: working capital, equipment purchase and purchase of commercial<br />

real estate. The maximum loan amount is $250,000 with a minimum amount of $5,000. and the rates<br />

and terms are based on the amount of the loan, collateral and the borrower’s credit.<br />

The Support Center/Fifth Third Bank Enterprise Loan Fund<br />

The Support Center is pleased to announce a new partnership with Fifth third Bank to create short term<br />

micro-loans and seasonal loans <strong>for</strong> farmers and small businesses <strong>for</strong> equipment, expansion, and<br />

working capital. This program was made possible in part by a grant from Fifth Third Bank.<br />

The Support Center/Fifth Third Bank Enterprise Fund will be used to meet the growing demand <strong>for</strong><br />

micro-financing and will be a great addition to the current lending programs at The Support Center.<br />

The Support Center has noticed over the last year a great increase of loan requests <strong>for</strong> micro-loans<br />
