Free flaps‐ Abdominal based • Includes more “tummy tuck flaps”: • Free TRAM • Muscle sparing free TRAM • DIEP • SIEA • Surgically disconnects flap and reconnects into new blood supply at mastectomy defect • Useful for irradiated patients • More technically demanding and labor intensive, but meaningful • Spares the abdominal wall morbidity (strength and integrity) depending on technique
