• Deep Inferior Epigastric Artery Perforator flap<br />
• Similar concept to free TRAM<br />
• Involves dissection of the artery from the muscle and a<br />
perforating vessel which supplies the skin and fat<br />
• Preserves muscle and fascia so strength and integrity<br />
are maintained<br />
• Technically longer surgery, but less invasive<br />
• Possible risk of fat necrosis<br />
• Very appealing to patients, newer technique, and a<br />
useful form of reconstruction
