Preference shares (continued)
Subsequent to the balance sheet date, on 2
January 2003, the Company received a redemption
notice from Luckman, requiring the Company to
redeem all the outstanding preference shares in
issue of the Company registered in the name of
Luckman at a redemption price of HK$0.06388
per preference share, being its partly paid up
capital (the “Redemption”). Upon the completion
of the Redemption, the share capital and the net
assets of the Company and the Group were
reduced by HK$71,768,000.

35. SHARE OPTION SCHEMES
35.
SSAP 34 was adopted during the year, as explained in
note 2 and under the heading “Employee benefits” in
note 3 to the financial statements. As a result, these
detailed disclosures relating to the Company’s share
option schemes are now included in the notes to the
financial statements. In the prior year, these disclosures
were included in the Report of the Directors, as their
disclosure is also a requirement of the Listing Rules.
