Ross, and Misty Chaves-Taylor<br />

(JD 95), a partner <strong>of</strong> the West Palm<br />

Beach <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> Wadsworth, King &<br />

Huott—have been presented with<br />

Outstanding Young Alumni Awards<br />

at the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Florida</strong>.<br />

Both alumni actively support the<br />

college through programs such as<br />

<strong>Law</strong> Firm Giving and Call 10 and<br />

have an extensive array <strong>of</strong> leadership,<br />

philanthropic and pr<strong>of</strong>essional or<br />

community-related activities.<br />

Andersen has extensive experience<br />

handling complex civil litigation<br />

matters in both state and federal<br />

courts and in alternative dispute resolution<br />

settings, including arbitration<br />

and mediation, as well as bond<br />

counsel, underwriterʼs counsel and<br />

disclosure counsel in complex public<br />

financings. Taylorʼs practice areas<br />

are insurance defense and medical<br />

malpractice defense.<br />

“Volunteers are a key component<br />

<strong>of</strong> a successful annual fund program,<br />

and these two individuals exemplify<br />

the impact volunteers can have,”<br />

said UF <strong>Law</strong> Dean Robert Jerry.<br />

“And beyond their fund-raising<br />

skills, they are just great people and<br />

great Gators.”<br />

wo new staff members have<br />

joined the Office <strong>of</strong> Development<br />

& Alumni Affairs to assist with<br />

fund raising and alumni activities for the<br />

<strong>Levin</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Law</strong>. They are Vince<br />

PremDas, director <strong>of</strong> development,<br />

and Victoria Rudd, assistant director<br />

<strong>of</strong> development.<br />

PremDas moves over from the UF<br />

<strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> Medicine, where he was<br />

director <strong>of</strong> Alumni Affairs. At the law<br />

school, he will be responsible for major<br />

gifts fund raising and working with the<br />

LCA Board. He earned a bachelorʼs degree<br />

from UF in exercise and sport science.<br />

Rudd comes to UF from the development<br />

operation at the Environmental<br />

<strong>Law</strong> Institute in Washington D.C. She<br />

earned her B.S. from York <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

Pennsylvania and her graduate degree<br />

from Seton Hall <strong>University</strong>. Victoria will<br />

be raising money to build the annual fund<br />

In other staff changes, Andrea Shirey<br />

was promoted to director <strong>of</strong> Annual<br />

Fund & Stewardship Programs, Jennifer<br />

Koepfinger was promoted to program<br />

assistant and Kristina Bullard is the new<br />

senior secretary.<br />

Preparing for Vienna Moot Competition<br />

More than 150 oral competition teams from around the world, including a team <strong>of</strong> five UF<br />

<strong>Law</strong> students, took on a breach <strong>of</strong> contract problem in the recent William Vis International<br />

Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna, Austria. The students—from left, Christian Waugh,<br />

Jesus Suarez, Sasha Vasquez, Renee Meenach, David Lane—were judged by international<br />

lawyers, judges and commercial arbitrators served as arbitrators. Traveling with the group was<br />

attorney Eddie Palmer (JD 85) with Rivero, Palmer & Mestre in Miami, who has supported the<br />

team financially for several years and serves as an adviser.<br />
