19 Caution Smith Square<br />
Planting principles 1. As discussed above, <strong>the</strong> existing trees in <strong>and</strong> around Smith Square area<br />
contribute significantly to <strong>the</strong> character of <strong>the</strong> area. In this respect, <strong>the</strong><br />
replacement of existing trees with compatible species is generally welcomed.<br />
2. However, <strong>the</strong>re is little scope for additional plantings. The narrow, intimate streets<br />
throughout <strong>the</strong> area cannot support additional trees without detracting from <strong>the</strong><br />
architectural character <strong>and</strong> pedestrian accessibility.<br />
