Modern Chinese literature (1917-1949) II (6 credits)<br />

(This course is also <strong>of</strong>fered to non-<strong>BA</strong> students for inter-Faculty broadening purposes.)<br />

A study <strong>of</strong> modern Chinese fiction from 1917 to 1949. Attention will be centered on selected<br />

works <strong>of</strong> representative authors.<br />

Assessment: 40% coursework, 60% examination.<br />

Contemporary Chinese literature (since 1949) I (6 credits)<br />

A study <strong>of</strong> the trends <strong>of</strong> literary thought in the Mainland since 1949 and how they have affected<br />

poetry, essays and novels.<br />
