Within IIS Manager, you will see the default web site, as in Figure 6-1. This web site is<br />

the entire site that manages a number of web applications. You can create <strong>and</strong> manage<br />

sites from here.<br />

IIS 7.0<br />

While this chapter covers IIS 6.x, Windows Server 2008 will have a new version of IIS, version 7.0,<br />

which has the following enhanced features:<br />

• Fully customizable install that allows you to reduce your attack surface, footprint, <strong>and</strong> patching<br />

• Automatic s<strong>and</strong>boxing of new sites<br />

• XCopy deployment <strong>and</strong> a new simplified configuration system<br />

• Easy sharing of configuration information across servers in a web farm<br />

• Updated diagnostics <strong>and</strong> troubleshooting tools<br />
