EAST CITY FUTSAL AUCKLAND
East City sit third on the table after Series One of
the inaugural NZF Futsal National League, with a
magnificent fight back against Football South Futsal
in Round 3 a major highlight for the Aucklanders.
After trailing 4-1 going into the final few minutes, East
City fired home three late goals and nearly snatched
a winner in what was one of the games’ of the series.
Inspired by a superb hatrick from young Futsal White
Dylan Manickum, the Aucklanders also came back
from 3-1 down in the final minutes against the red hot
Maccabi Hakoah in Round 5, before a penalty with
the last kick of the game sealed it for the Sydney side.
With mercurial playmaker Miro Major in top form, the
2008 National Tournament Champions are capable
of beating any team in the National League. Player/
coach, former Futsal White Nathan Robertson used
himself sparingly in Series One, but like Major, was a
huge influence whenever on court.
Dylan Manickum remains New Zealand’s most
exciting young futsal prospect and leads the Golden
Boot race going into this weekend, while James Hart
and Jakob Sinkora’s ability to weigh in with vital goals
make East City a tough proposition for all opposition
this weekend.
