YESHIVA COLLEGE PLAYSCHOOL
PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents
Our week has been jam-packed with activities pertaining to Yom Ha’Atzmaut.
Flags have been stencilled, crowns stamped, songs sung and an awareness of Israel created.
On Yom Ha’atzmaut itself, we have some exciting activities planned which will add a
special dimension to the morning.
In Parsha, we discussed brit milah. The children are generally fascinated with babies –
they see themselves as very big! – and so they thoroughly enjoyed the “story”.
Our first session aimed at strengthening the children’s core muscles, through exercises done with physio balls,
started this week. Challenging but so worthwhile, the children had a great time!
INSERVICE TRAINING
On Monday, the Playschool and Nursery School teachers attended training by Nicole Canin, a counselling
psychologist, on the subject, “Understanding Symptoms as a Means of Communication”. It was very interesting
and informative and we look forward to putting newly gained knowledge to good use.
LIBRARY BAGS
A letter was sent out earlier this week with regard to the home library programme.
As part of this programme, every child needs to have a library bag in which the book
is placed. These may be purchased from your child’s teacher at a cost of R25.
These bags will continue to be used during the course of Nursery School.
