TR Electrical moves into new complex Athens business expands to 4,000 feet of floor space ne of Limestone County's fastest growing businesses, TR Electrical LLC, recently moved into a new office and warehouse that includes 4,000 square feet of floor space. TR Electrical, owned and operated by the father and son team of Tim Bauer and Robbie McDowell, is now located at 1631 L. Gray Blvd. in Athens between Sears and Advance Auto, just off U.S. 72 West. Tim and Robbie would like to thank all their customers that have made it possible for us to expand and complete this new office and warehouse complex. TR Electrical now employs 16 people including Robbie’s wife, Amber Mc- Dowell, as bookkeeper. The new building was constructed by Premier Structures Inc., of Athens. TR Electrical was formerly located at 101 E. Lee Street. TR Electrical was started in December, 2007 and has steadily grown in a weak economy. They now do work in all of Northern Alabama and Southern Tennessee. Office hours are from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Bauer worked at the General Motors Delphi plant in Limestone County for more than 30 years before retiring in early 2007. McDowell was an experienced electrician with Bobby Terry Company when the two decided to go into business for themselves. The business is named after both father and son. "We've had some stressful times, but overall it has worked out well," Bauer said. Today, TR Electrical is one of the largest electrical contractors in Athens and Limestone County. Bauer credits that to a hard working staff of devoted employees and faithful customers. "We feel fortunate in a weak economy to have the amount of business we've had," he said recently. “God has truly blessed us.” TR Electrical provides electrical work for commercial, residential, and industrial applications. Some of their most recent major work includes building churches, stores, restaurants, offices, and homes. TR Electrical currently works with the following residential contractors: Keith Griffin Contractors Inc., of Athens, Brown and Meers Homes LLC in Madison, Legacy Southern Homes, Huntsville, and KJB Construction Inc., of Taft, Tenn. On the commercial side, TR Electrical LLC is now completing work on two new churches, Bethel Church of Christ with Preston Builders, and Lakeview Methodist Church with Scott Construction. Both of these jobs are in Athens. The company is also completing plans with RDB Contractors for construction of a local medical facility. TR Electrical is also involved in a large industrial project at the Electricfil Corporation plant in Elkmont. You can read more about these projects on their website: www.trelectrical.com. June 28, 2012 the valley star Page 3 THE SONNY SIDE by Sonny Turner He loves the pond, but hates a bath He loves to go swimming in the not so clean pond, but hates Sonny Turner to be bathed with the hose back at home. Just what is going on with our Bulldog, Bubu, is anybody’s guess at this point. But, he literally can’t stand that cool bath we give him to keep clean. In the hot summer he will make two, maybe three trips daily to the old murky pond in the pasture behind our home. I believe he does it to keep cool as the temperatures rise. But, pull that shampoo out and grab the hose, he clams up and stresses out. I’ve talked to some friends who have dogs, and they say their animals act like that, too. A bath is a no-no, but they love to go into water on their own. ubu will go swimming up to is nose. Sometimes, he will ven go under the water. He oves it. eople get attached to their ets like we are to Bubu. He osts us money, but he’s like amily and we love him. he Valley Star’s Danny Johnon, and wife Debra, have a lack lab named “Riley” and they had a little mishap with her last week. It seems Riley, who loves to ride in the jeep, tried to jump out while the jeep was in motion and suffered a broken front leg. That happened on a weekend and Danny and Debra had to take her to Decatur for emergency attention since all the vets in Athens were out. But, that is only a fraction of the cost since more visits to the dog doctor will be forthcoming. Bubu is scheduled for a doctor’s visit as I write this because he has been having eye problems.
