SUNSHINE THROUGH<br />

GOLF<br />

Sunshine Through Golf is a 5-week, skill-based golf<br />

program designed to teach the game of golf and<br />

encourage participation by individuals with disabilities.<br />

Lessons will cover putting, chipping, the full swing, rules<br />

and proper etiquette. The last week will include course<br />

instruction followed by an awards presentation and a<br />

cookout for participants, sta� and professionals. This<br />

program is being o�ered in cooperation with Lake Shore<br />

Country Club and the Chicago District Golf Association.<br />

<strong>NSSRA</strong> will assist the golf professional by providing sta�<br />

based on participant needs.<br />

GOALS: Develop golf skills through instruction and<br />

practice. Increase range of motion. Learn proper stance<br />

and balance.<br />

YOUTH HORSEBACK<br />

RIDING<br />

Giddy Up! Equestrian Connection is a one-of-a-kind<br />

stable that provides therapeutic horseback riding<br />

opportunities speci�cally designed for individuals with<br />

special needs. Participants learn and practice grooming<br />

techniques, ride for 20-30 minutes, have a snack and<br />

engage in a horse-related activity each week. A waiver<br />

will be mailed prior to program; the waiver must be<br />

returned to the <strong>NSSRA</strong> o�ce before participation in<br />

this program is approved.<br />

GOALS: Increase �exibility and range of motion while<br />

on the horse. Gain self-con�dence and a sense of control<br />

through stable skills. Develop companionship with the<br />

horse and a sense of responsibility.<br />

Get ready for a musical experience where we will<br />

explore, learn and socialize with our peers. This program<br />

is structured for exploring the world of music through<br />

hands-on activities with musical instruments, singing<br />

and moving to the music.<br />

GOALS: Develop the ability to produce rhythms.<br />

Increase exposure to a variety of music styles and<br />

instruments. Promote ability to express one’s self<br />

through music and movement. Improve ability to<br />

participate in a group setting.<br />

will be provided.<br />

GOALS: Learn leisure swim activities. Improve<br />

cooperation with others. Engage in physical activity<br />

through water play.<br />
