ENZYME NUTRITION HEALTH TALK Daphne Phoa
What are enzymes and what do they do We are honoured to have Ms Charlene Hui, a certified Enzyme Therapist from
the Transformation Enzyme Corporation, USA, Texas, to share with us on the benefits of this little element and how it can
affect our health. Approximately 50 registered members turned up for the session on 10 Jul 2010 to find out more.
Enzymes are proteins essential to life. The human immune system depends on the proper amount of enzymes in order to
function properly. Each of us is born with a fixed amount of enzymes, however our body requires additional and frequent
intake of enzymes in the form of fresh foods.
Food enzymes are present in raw foods and are usually just sufficient to help the body digest that particular food.
Unfortunately, enzymes are usually destroyed during cooking which goes beyond 118°C. This is the reason why we need
to consume more fresh fruits and vegetables. Another wonderful
suggested enzymes booster is the good old traditional “Yu Sheng”
(raw fish). For all other salad enthusiasts, do remember to go easy on
the salad dressings as too much can be unhealthy. It would be best
if salads are consumed without any dressing.
Towards the end of the session, members were treated to a free blood
analysis and consultation by Ms Hui to identify conditions within the
blood that could adversely affect or improve their general health.
As a gentle reminder to you our beloved members, include more fresh
fruits and vegetables as well as “Yu Sheng” into your diet.
