ON LAND<br />

DRIVING… Should you be renting or driving a<br />

vehicle, please take time to familiarise yourself<br />

with the rules of the road and your vehicle.<br />

Visitors need a temporary driving permit to drive<br />

in the <strong>Cayman</strong> <strong>Islands</strong>, which can be obtained<br />

from the Licensing Department or from any renta-car<br />

company. Always drive on the LEFT side of<br />

the road. Observe yellow lines on roads - they<br />

indicate NO parking. Pedestrians should always<br />

remember to look in both directions prior<br />

to crossing any roadway. Always pull over for<br />

emergency vehicles. Please remember that<br />

driving under the influence is a very serious<br />

offense. There is a mandatory disqualification<br />

from driving for 12 months and the penalties<br />

include fines or imprisonment.<br />

LITTERING… We rely on our guests to help keep<br />

the <strong>Cayman</strong> <strong>Islands</strong> clean and beautiful. Please<br />

cooperate by disposing all cans, bottles, papers,<br />

and other waste in trash baskets or recycling bins.<br />

DRUGS… The <strong>Cayman</strong> <strong>Islands</strong> have strict rules<br />

regarding the use of drugs, including marijuana.<br />

Please do not ruin your stay here by possessing<br />

these illegal substances. Penalties will include<br />

imprisonment and heavy fines.<br />

IN THE WATER<br />

MARINE CONSERVATION LAWS… Damaging coral by<br />

anchor, chains or any other means anywhere in<br />

<strong>Cayman</strong> waters is prohibited. The wearing of gloves<br />

while snorkeling or scuba diving in <strong>Cayman</strong> waters<br />

is not permitted. The touching or taking of marine<br />

life from <strong>Cayman</strong> waters at any time is not<br />

permitted except that recreational line fishing<br />

is allowed in appropriate locations.<br />

NO MARINE LIFE ALIVE OR DEAD MAY BE TAKEN WHILE SCUBA DIVING.<br />

NO CORAL, SPONGES, ETC. CAN BE TAKEN FROM <strong>CAYMAN</strong> WATERS AT ANY<br />

TIME. USE OF A SPEAR GUN, HAWAIIAN SLING, POLE SPEAR, A SEINE NET,<br />

OR FISH TRAP IS NOT ALLOWED WITHOUT AN APPROPRIATE LICENCE FROM<br />

THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT.<br />

Fishing with gill nets, explosives, poison, or other<br />

noxious substances is prohibited, as is the export<br />

of live fish or other marine life. The export of<br />

conch shells and/or black coral as a souvenir<br />

requires a CITES permit. Contact the Department<br />

of Environment. Dumping ANYTHING in <strong>Cayman</strong><br />

Waters is prohibited. Possession of turtle eggs is<br />

prohibited. Designated Grouper Spawning Areas<br />

are protected and no one may take Nassau<br />

grouper from any of these designated areas.<br />

CATCH LIMITS…<br />

LOBSTER – Closed Season: March 1st - November<br />

30th. Catch Limits: 3 per person or 6 per boat per<br />

day, whichever is less during open season;<br />

Only Spiny Lobster (P.Argus) may be taken and<br />

must be a tail length minimum of 6 inches.<br />

CONCH – Closed Season: May 1st - October 31st.<br />

Catch Limit per day: 5 per person or 10 per boat,<br />

which ever is less during open season.<br />

WHELKS – Closed Season: May 1st - Oct. 31st.<br />

Catch Limits: 2 1/2 gallons in shell or 2 1/2lbs<br />

processed per day, whichever is less.<br />

Conch and lobster may not be taken from any<br />

Marine Park areas.<br />

MARINE PARKS & ZONES… Regulations for<br />

Designated Marine Park Zones, Replenishment<br />

Zones, Environmental Zones, and No Diving<br />

Zones, are strictly enforced.<br />

DIVERS, SNORKELLERS… Must use a flag attached<br />

to a buoy at all times when you are in the water.<br />

When diving from a boat, a dive flag must be used,<br />

and one person should remain on board at all<br />

times. Please observe Marine Parks regulations.<br />

WATER SKIERS… Water skiing should take place<br />

a good distance from areas in which people are<br />

swimming and only in designated areas off Seven<br />

Mile Beach. There must be a minimum of two<br />

people in the boat at any time, one to keep watch<br />

for dangerous situations. No person under 14<br />

years of age may drive a mechanically propelled<br />

boat unless accompanied by an adult.<br />

There are a number of activities available in the<br />

<strong>Cayman</strong> <strong>Islands</strong> that require specific skills or<br />

training. For your safety, and the safety of others,<br />

please do not participate in activities that you<br />

are not fully qualified to participate in or to<br />

perform. We want your vacation in the <strong>Cayman</strong><br />

<strong>Islands</strong> to be both memorable and safe.<br />
