professor of psychology and director
of the environmental neuropsychology
laboratory. His studies have included
aging and dementia, stereotype bias,
multiple sclerosis, malnutrition,
incarceration, health and illness, and
the impact of pets on moods. One of
the lab’s studies, published in Science,
explored the neuropathological and
behavioral impact of parasites, such as
the roundworm of dogs, on humans
exposed to them. Peter holds a
master’s and doctorate in psychology
from University of Wisconsin and
has completed numerous related
postdoctoral works. He is also a
licensed psychologist and a consulting
neuropsychologist for Elmira
Correctional Facility and Central
New York Psychiatric Center in Marcy.
Jim “Stinger” Westkott and wife
Nancy were in southeastern
Pennsylvania for their 55th high
school reunion and visited Dick and
Yvonne Webster in West Chester.
Stinger still plays a good game of
softball and, for the second year in a
row, his team was invited to the
senior World Series in Ft. Myers, Fla.
He tutors advanced students in math,
economics, and history at his local
community college in Rhode Island.
Warrick Lee retired as a patent
attorney for AT&T. He is now a
practicing attorney in Basking
Ridge, N.J.
My wife, Virginia, and I traveled
to Williamsburg, Va., for a mini
vacation and to attend Lafayette
football’s opening game against The
College of William & Mary. While
there, we attended a dinner party
hosted by Dan and Linda Schutter.
Hank Lorish, a neighbor of Dan’s,
and Al Alvarez ’63 attended with
their wives. I was pleased to see that
Hank, whom I had not seen since
graduation, was in good shape after
experiencing a serious health issue.
The William & Mary game was
played in heavy rains, but Bob
Howard stayed till the end. Howard
discovered an old football teammate,
Joel Gustafson ’60, whom he had
not seen in more than 50 years. The
pair, apparently immune to the
weather, were last seen exchanging
football war stories.
Bob was surprised George
Benson was not at the game. Dave
Bloys and David Thomsen also
regularly attended home games.
Dalton S. Marks died
unexpectedly Aug. 26. He starred in
five sports at Albany (N.Y.) Academy
and received its prized Gould
Sportsman Cup. He earned a
bachelor’s in history and was a varsity
wrestler and soccer player. A first
lieutenant in the Army, Dalton was
in Special Forces during the early
Vietnam era. Afterward, he worked
briefly for his father’s firm. He
earned a master’s in educational
administration while teaching at
Duanesburg (N.Y.) Central School.
While there, he started a wrestling
team and became principal. He later
became superintendent at two other
upstate New York school systems. He
received a doctorate in educational
administration at Columbia
University during this period. In
1992, Dalton was appointed
superintendent of Westbrook (Conn.)
Central Schools, where he served
until retirement. Dalton pursued his
love of boating, founding Dalton
Yachts, where he designed and
imported yachts from Taiwan. A
lifelong lover of theater and film, he
appeared in local plays as a member
of Westbrook Players and in several
off-Broadway productions and
independent films in New York, New
Haven, Conn., and Los Angeles.
Dalton’s wife of 52 years, Louise, a
retired educator, survives him.
