52nd ANNUAL REPORT & BALANCE SHEFr
Congratulations to al l our members, both young and old, for once again keeping the flagged
areas and their immediate environs safe for the public. EVERYBODY deserves a clap on the
back.
Standard of patrols thi s year were high with great many younger members making their
presence felt both in the patrols and in the ranks of the cadets. The normal stalwarts of patrols
keep on patro ll ing which is very heartening to see, shore patrols remain a vital part of our
team , and our new nipper parents and bronze candidates have hit the ground running.
Use of the quad bike this year has helped remove the burden of lugging the gear and boats
over the sand dune and has proved very effective. After all these years we may have that
#%*@sanddunelicked!!!
As is always the case a Cl ub Captain will never last through the season and stay sane without
the support of his Vice captains, in my case Doug Lucas and Andrew Robson. I can safely say
that these two guys were a godsend and helped me inuneasurably. As has been stated on
previous occasions the effort, dedicat.ion and professionalism that these two guys have put in
all year is incredible. Thanks guys.
Finally, I invi te everyone to continue their association with Long Reef next year. Longy and
the people associated wi th it hold a special place in my heart and I look forward to seeing YOLI
there next year!!!
