By the end of Module 2, the participants will KNOW/UNDERSTAND:<br />

how and when the dengue virus emerged;<br />

the epidemiology of dengue with specific reference to the <strong>Western</strong> <strong>Pacific</strong> <strong>Region</strong>;<br />

OO<br />

how the dengue virus affects global health and socioeconomic status (i.e. burden of disease).<br />

•<strong>Facilitator</strong> welcomes students to the first lecture of the training, reminds students of agreed<br />

ground rules, and makes note of timing for the module.<br />

asks students to take out training package and go to session 2.1.<br />

•<strong>Facilitator</strong> tells participants that they are going to talk about the epidemiology of dengue.<br />

•<strong>Facilitator</strong> asks participants if they know how and where dengue originated, and<br />

acknowledges participants’ responses.<br />

•<strong>Facilitator</strong> leads the session.<br />
