• Folate is essential for regeneration of methionine –<br />
purin and pyremidine synthesis<br />
• Folate ↓ is associated with DNA hypomethylation,<br />
abberant DNA synthesis and repair and decreased<br />
apoptesis<br />
• Folates sensitive fragile site on genes important for<br />
carcinogesis , like p53 suppressor gene
