Development - a Canadian Perspective
The enhancement of technical and professionnal skills
for engineers has become a priority for many professional
corporations across Canada. L’Ordre des Ingénieurs
du Québec in the province of Quebec passed a new
regulation to make continuing education mandatory
starting in April 2011. This regulation aims to be an
incentive for all engineers to handle their professional
development and continuing education within the six
following competencies: 1) To come on terms with its
professional status; 2) To solve problems using applied
science and rules of the art; 3) To communicate efficiently;
4) To ensure high standards of quality in its professional
activities; 5) To ensure adequate technical risk management;
6) To manage activities, technical crews and projects. The
round table will focus on how canadian gas companies will
handle continuing education needs for their engineers in
regards of present and future obligations in regulations.
