12) Performance Criteria - Municipal
and Public Utility Requirements
Recent investments for infrastructures led many
municipalities to look closer at utility companies
operations for better coordination in ROW. Despite of
the engineering and project management staff expertise,
utilities are often compelled to use municipal technical
specifications for cuts reinstatement. Those requirements
have significant financial and logistic impacts. Though
municipal concerns are relevant, performance criteria,
have to be defined. Most municipal specifications
focus on reinstatement techniques but are silent on
performance requirements. It is in this context that
Gaz Métro developed a methodology to assess the
performance of its reinstated cuts based on the
principles of typical pavement management processes.
A case study will illustrate the concept and the
application of this innovative methodology.

13) CGA Biomethane Guidelines
A CGA TF has created a Guideline for the Introduction
of Biomethane into Existing Natural Gas Distribution &
Transmission Systems. This plenary will present those
guidelines including a Project Approach Model, a
Verification Program & general definitions & information
concerning biomethane interchangeability & transmission
& distribution system component performance.

14) Horizontal Directional Drilling
Using Intercept Method
An 800m HDD installation beneath the Lawrence River was
performed using the intercept method. The project was
executed in order to replace a bridge mounted pipeline on
the North Channel Bridge in Cornwall On. The pipeline is
the primary supply to St. Lawrence Gas in New York State,
an affiliate company of Enbridge Gas Distribution. In order
to accommodate the construction timeline of a new bridge
it was necessary to expedite the crossing. The project also
involved liaising with local stakeholders, First Nations and
federal authorities. The presentation will speak to the
complexities, technology, timeline and lessons learned
from the project.
