Awards & Achievements
Our prominent role in the community and economy has long been recognised, a fact
reflected in a number of recent awards. These include:
2010
Alba becomes the first organisation in the Arab world to receive the IFTDO
International Trophy
Occupational Health & Safety Gold Award (for the fourth consecutive year).
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
International Safety Award (for the fourth consecutive year).
The British Safety Council.
2009
Occupational Health & Safety Gold Award (for the third consecutive year).

Alba's Calciner & Marine Terminal received a Highly Protected Risk award after
demonstrating that its property loss prevention controls complied with the
standards laid down by FM Global.
IFTDO Global Human Resource Development Award 2009 (first to win in the Arab
world) in the category of Knowledge Management, for our paper on The Smart
Centre at Alba.
ISO 9001: 2008 certification – a Bureau Veritas Certification (first company in
Bahrain to upgrade to this ISO) Alba’s Casthouse re-certified its quality management
system from June 2009 until 2012.

The GCC Excellence Award in Nationalisation.
The 25th Annual Meeting for GCC ministers of Labour.
Outstanding Organisation Award in Occupational Safety and Work Environment
The Kingdom of Bahrain's Ministry of Labour 24th Annual Honours Ceremony.
2006
GCC Economic Award Presented by former German Chancellor, His Excellency
Gerhard Schroeder.

2005
GCC Prize for the Best Industrial Establishment that Complies with Environment
Standards and Specifications.
Gulf Excellence Award presented by His Highness the Prime Minister to Alba for its
business excellence.
The first place prize for the Best Kept Industrial Gardens during the opening of the
40th Bahrain Garden Fair which was hosted under the patronage of His Highness,
King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
2004
Outstanding Company of the Year Award, presented by the Minister of Labour to
Alba for its remarkable performance in the areas of Bahrainisation, Recruitment,
Training and Safety.
Bahrainisation Award, presented by the Minister of Labour to Alba in recognition of
its Bahrainisation success.
The second place prize for the Best Kept Industrial Gardens during the opening of

Quality Management System ISO 9001:2000 accreditation for Alba's Casthouse.
2002
Quality Management System ISO 9002 extended to Alba's Marketing department.
2001
GCC award for the best environmental activities by an industrial establishment.
2000
GCC-wide award for Bahrainisation, reflecting Alba's commitment to Human
Resources Development. The company also won a top supporting organisation
award for HRD in this year.
Environmental Management System standard ISO 14001.

Millennium Business Award for Environmental Achievement. Alba was one of only
12 companies in the world to win this prestigious award presented by the United
Nations Environment Programme in conjunction with the International Chamber of
Commerce.
1999
Inaugural Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Award for Excellence in Industry,
presented by His Highness the Prime Minister to Alba for its outstanding
contribution to the industrial development of the country and in recognition of its
international success.
1998
Safety Award from the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. Two Human Resources
Development and Bahrainisation awards, presented by the Ministry of Labour and
Social Affairs and the Bahrain Training Institute.
1997
United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Environment Award presented in
conjunction with the Bahrain Ministry of Housing, Municipalities and Environment.
1994
Quality Management System ISO 9002 accreditation for Alba's Casthouse.
1993
Bahrainisation Award from the General Committee for Bahrain Workers.
1992
ISO 9002 Quality Management System certification extended to Alba's Marketing
Department.
